Scott Embry’s Sunday Geraldton Preview Posted on October 8, 2022October 8, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 CLASSIC ENCOUNTER was no match for ownership rival Central Force last start in a 1400m maiden at Geraldton in what looked a Cerise and White match-race and turned into exactly that. If she went around $2.40 last start with Central Force in the field then logic says she’ll go round even shorter here and should go close to breaking through. BOY BLUE comes from maidens at Belmont and Northam and clearly has ability. Visors go on, Luke Campbell takes off 2kg and he looks the danger. WOJTEK finished just over 2L behind Classic Encounter in an encouraging display. COLOUR ME SON always hits the line. Numbers: 6 – 2 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – CLASSIC ENCOUNTER WIN RACE 2 RARE ENCOUNTER was bitterly disappointing last start, even when you consider she raced wide and was run deep into the home corner. Thinking that second-up, drawn barrier 1 CJP (or whoever picks up the ride) can be a bit more aggressive early to hold a position and she should be going close to breaking through. PRIMATIVE looks the likely leader at her first start for Tony Scally. Race fit and can give cheek. HOLY SPY was an excellent return to racing and beat home likely favourite Rare Encounter by almost 3L. Has to be a sniff. WILD SCENES did it tough fresh and battled on ok. Numbers: 5 – 4 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – RARE ENCOUNTER WIN RACE 3 CORN COB was all the rage returning to Geraldton after three solid hit outs on wet tracks at Belmont Park. Never really travelled or looked the winner in running and was left a floundering fourth. Senior rider Tash Faithful goes on and without the likes of Human Nature in the field he might be able to kick through to at least leader’s back. Expecting him to bounce back. SANS LE SOU was unlucky fresh and only better suited with an extra 87m. QUALITY FAIR is hard to catch when he can cross and find the rail. SUN POWER beat him home at trials and should slide across. Numbers: 4 – 7 – 3 – 8 Suggested Bet – CORN COB WIN RACE 4 CHIX CHATTER was one of the runs of the meeting on opening day at Geraldton. Drew 9 of 9, settled 9 of 9 and came rattling home to finish second behind Real Grace (Races at Ascot on Saturday). Considering he got out as far as a mile last preparation he was a clear follow horse and while he’s drawn the outside gate again he hopefully can zap them late. DARK PEAK is a talented mare returning to Geraldton and returning to Kim Anderson. Likely to settle towards the back but has a big L600 on her. DELAGO DEHERO drops 3kg and can kick through to lead or box seat. GUNS OF NAVARONE well placed into a c58+. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – CHIX CHATTER WIN RACE 5 ROEY CLAM got under the guard last start (Maley too good) when going from beaten 4.5L on the dirt at Carnarvon in a C1 into a 58+ at Geraldton on the grass and kicking clear to beat Mrs America by over a length. Rises 5.5kg but drops back into a C2. If he reproduces th the run he should go close to reproducing the result. BE SEATED was plunged in betting last start and was ducking and weaving his way through runners to make a late charge at leader and eventual winner Mr Rossi. The money was astute and he was a great run in defeated. Should be hard to beat again. MENINA has put together three good runs at Belmont. Gets back but can hit the line hard. NUPPA WHISKEY was a great return to racing. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 6 – 3 Suggested Bet – ROEY CLAIM WIN RACE 6 CELEVACCI got a long way back last start when beaten just over a length by Ensign Pulver. Yeman Lass came through that race and was a 4L winner at York in Thursday and Celevacci looks well placed into a C5 at Geraldton. Drawn the inside gate but has held a position from a favourable gate previously. YANGTZE RAPIDS is a big strong son of Frankel who goes well fresh. Loved his trial behind Captain Sharmane (second at York Thursday) and he looks the danger. AURMAN ZOU was a good return. ARABIAN RICHES benefits from the trial. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 7 – 3 Suggested Bet – CELEVACCI WIN RACE 7 SHAKE BABY SHAKE is being placed to perfection at the moment by Team Durrant. They continue to put her in races where she’s high in the weights but takes on moderate opposition. C1 Kal, C2 Kal, C1 Belmont, C1 Belmont and then into a 52+ at Belmont (Toodyay race) when breaking through. No star but can carry the weight and can lead from the inside gate. SLY AS A FOX gets back in his races but can finish off strongly provided he isn’t caught up in traffic. NORTHERN RULER ran well in 3 year old 0MWLY company when last in work. BASIL’S DREAM showed a sharp turn of foot to break her maiden. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet – SHAKE BABY SHAKE WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 2,3,4 1,2,6 1,2 1,3,4,7,8,10 Market Market
