Scott Embry’s Sunday Carnarvon Preview Posted on August 16, 2024August 16, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 ON THE MARK went around $2.10 at Belmont Park only 11 days ago. Two starts he sat three deep the trip in a 3 year old Saturday event when beaten half a length by King’s Salute. The grass form is 10L better than these, but grass form doesn’t always equate to dirt form. He’ll be extremely short and should be winning on ability alone but remember Bolta went around $1.16 and only by 1L. FORBIDDEN APPLE comes through a winner producing maiden at Pinjarra. ARIARNE MEDLEY ran well behind Hero Of The Dawn first-up. CHEWING THE FAT is race fit. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 7 – 2 Suggested Bet – ON THE MARK WIN RACE 2 CALICO KID has been improving start to start this campaign. Won a 1400m C1 by over 1L two starts back and then went to 1700 (and to a 56+) when running a strong second behind plunge winner Castillo Del Lago. Barrier 1 always a concern but he’s going super. SUPER SALSA backs up off 7 days and travels down from Port Hedland. Wasn’t disgraced even beaten 12L by Yardstick. Keep safe. WESTERN IMPACT has been around the mark most of the season without winning one. HERO OF THE DAWN has returned a better animal this campaign. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 7 – 6 Suggested Bet – CALICO KID WIN RACE 3 BITOVEMU and TINY’N’TUFF are both enjoying great seasons on the dirt for Ray Malpass. Thinking that returning to Carnarvon that the old grey mare BITOVEMU can sneak under the radar a bit and go around at an eachway price. TINY’N’TUFF never got into it last start ina forgive. BOLTA was taking the step from a maiden into a 56+ when beaten into second by Speedy Pye. Only gets a 1kg weight swing for a 1.8L defeat and is again drawn to do it tough out deep. SPEEDY PYE was the beneficiary of a 10/10 ride from Vicky Corver last start and produced at the perfect moment. Numbers: 4 – 7 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – BITOVEMU EACHWAY RACE 4 KENTUCKY BLUE brings Port Hedland form and that’s always going to be hard to line-up at Carnarvon, however, his win of a 56+ 1600 two starts back when beating stablemate Rocking The Merc and in form NW type Reginald was dominant and last start he ran into a white hot Jackemjames. Going to take the gamble that the Port Hedland form holds up and that he gets across into a prominent position early. SLY AS A FOX put in an eyecatcher a month ago behind Set The Scene at odds. MAN FROM MEMPHIS is going well but is really hard to catch. LET’S ERUPT finally put it all together last start for a strong win. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 7 – 4 Suggested Bet – KENTUCKY BLUE WIN RACE 5 GOLDEN FIGHTER is having his first start on the dirt which is a big unknown, but he has won a 60+ Graduation at Ascot sitting up on speed over 1000m and fighting them off. Provided he leaves cleanly from his inside gate an stays out of the early kick back expect that he’ll more than hold his own here. SAINTLY CITY has speed to burn and is 2/2 at Carnarvon. Returns to Peter Daly and the Tash Faithfull booking is big. WISE WORDS is looking to win her fourth straight race and is back to career best form. HERITAGE SASH always an X-Factor. Numbers: 1 – 10 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet – GOLDEN FIGHTER WIN RACE 6 MARXIAN put in a really good run first-up in the Minilya Sprint over an unsuitable 1200m. Second-up was only grinding away in a race where Crystal Vain again showed his class. Third-up he gets out to 1600m (2x track/distance winner) and most importantly this is the first time in the campaign that Graeme Hammarquist calls on the services of a senior rider. Should be nearly ready. REGAL CITY is jumping well and showing plenty of early toe. He’s a tough nut to crack on his day. SET THE SCENE loves life on the dirt and hasn’t run a bad race in two seasons since landing with Sean Rains. WHO’S YOUR MAMA gets weight relief. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet – MARXIAN WIN Quaddie (Race 3 – 6) 1,2,4,5,7 2,3,4,7 1,5,10 1,2,5 Market Market
