Scott Embry’s Sunday Carnarvon Preview Posted on August 27, 2022August 28, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 BEST TESTIMONY finished second behind Off This Planet and that’s the obvious form reference for this moderate 1400m maiden. In that field he beat home Man From Memphis, Luna Nobel, Duchees Dream and Whitegum Bay. Thought the run behind Mahutas was encouraging and then he fought on well enough into second last start. This looks his best chance yet. MAN FROM MEMPHIS gets the services of Tash Faithfull. 25 start maiden but has been going well. SECOND CHOICE has been promising to win a maiden at Roebourne and went close at Junction behind Rightful Heir. BETTER IT KIT (CARNARVON) should find the front and if she handles the dirt should go well. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – BEST TESTIMONY WIN RACE 2 THE FULL QUID was excellent first-up at 1000 when wide and working throughout finishing a narrow second to Human Nature. Last start went around favourite in another 56+ and finished second to a flying Woodbug. Drops from a 56+ back into a C3 (50+) and should be there abouts if she jumps. REBEL TAIL and OLD TIMES are both last start maiden winners leading throughout. They’re both really speedy and will ensure it’s a fast run race. SPICY DANCER positions up from the inside gate. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – THE FULL QUID WIN RACE 3 This race contains more questions than answers: can Passport see out a strong 1400? Where does Divine Wind get to from the outside gate? Can Off This Planet reproduce jumping right up into a 56+? Has Casual Trade returned and can he carry the 63.5? After all of that going to side up with PASSPORT who is placed at 1400m and placed at a mile at Geraldton on the grass. Going super and should march across into a prominent position. THE DIVINE WIND comes out of a Minilya Sprint and two 68+ races. Just needs luck. OFF THIS PLANET beat up on battlers last start but he was winning at the 1200m marker. MAN OF THE HOUR has been going well since arriving at Carnarvon. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 4 – 10 Suggested Bet – PASSPORT WIN RACE 4 NERO CHIN CHIN has been a much-maligned horse over the seasons at Carnarvon but he has really turned a corner this season. He is racing with consistency, he is racing with heart and his last start effort behind an in form leader (Looking Great) was strong. Drops from 1700 back to 1600m, should roll forward into a position and is (now) rarely far from the winner. TEST OF STRENGTH won first-up at Carnarvon before winning a 56+ at Roebourne beating Block of Land. Since then has been going through all the Cups races and this looks very winnable. GILT DRAGON improved sharply at his second run at Carnarvon. KIDLAT is racing really well. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 4 – 10 Suggested Bet – NERO CHIN CHIN WIN RACE 5 NATIVE CHIMES is seemingly loving Dirt life now. Her first two runs at Broome they were learning a bit about her. Her last effort when sitting off the speed she kept coming in a genuinely run mile behind Dashing Image (Kununurra Cup Saturday) and Elafella. Why can’t she win again? MYSTICAL MAN is always going to be a risky betting conveyance. His best is good enough but he can run his race in patches and makes it hard work for Mystical Man. ULUSABA won the Derby Cup when backed off the map and then his run in the Broome Cup was sensational. Has to be a live chance. HONORFIC was a huge winner last start. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – NATIVE CHIMES WIN RACE 6 HUMAN NATURE is absolutely flying. Won first up under Cassey Martinan with 61.5kg, was backed as if unbeatable into $1.55 last start with 62kg when lifting himself off the canvas last start. Looked like Klondike Kenny was going to get him with a 5.5kg pull in the weights but he found again late. Drops to 59.5kg, finds a race where the majority of other speed runners are drawn outside of him and so he can position up. Hard to beat. MORDOR is a feature race specialist. Zach Tyler races him sparingly and he goes well fresh. Minor query at 1000m. OUR INSIDER is well weighted after the claim but the barrier hurts. KRAMDEN lobs a lovely spot. Numbers: 3 – 6 – 10 – 7 Suggested Bet – HUMAN NATURE WIN RACE 7 HERITAGE SASH won a 56+ first-up with 62kg, since then has finished third in a 64+, third in the Minilya Sprint, second in a 56+ to Woodbug (who he meets 2.5kg better here) and then went down to Belmont last start. Wide draw isn’t the end of the world and he looks to been placed really well. WOODBUG has won his last two impressively. If he can again kick through to find the front he’ll be hard to run down. ZEEWIJK brings the alternative Roebourne form. THE WITCH DOCTOR has a short sprint on her. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – HERITAGE SASH EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 2,3 FD 3,5,6,7,10 1,2,4 Market Market
