Scott Embry’s Sunday Bunbury Preview Posted on May 1, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 DE PLACE made her debut against moderate opposition in a country ratings race and was very good. Miss Merit had been knocking on the door in town and she was able to finish within three quarters of a length. From the gate she should get across and this looks a nice maiden for her. SHAPE SHIFTER put in a huge effort on debut in Albany and then dislodged the rider at her second outing. MOOD SWINGS has trialled up alright for race day debut but drawn a little sticky. CHEEKY BLONDE another who should be in the finish on debut. Numbers: 5 – 6 – 3 – 8 Suggested Bet – DE PLACE WIN RACE 2 MISS MALIBU has contested exclusively fast run races of recent times. Finished third behind Cable Guy and I Hope You Dance three starts ago in a race run 2.5L faster than maiden average, finished fifth behind Captain Jack and Whos A Pretty Gal and then last start placed behind Blackwater Bay and I Hope You Dance. Victoria Corver takes 4kg off and she gets her chance. ROMAN FLIRT is no star but from the draw and with Pike aboard will go round a deserving favourite. INTERSTATE was well supported before being a late scratching last weekend. Legitimate chance. NIGHT SESSION really caught the eye first-up. Numbers: 6 – 5 – 4 – 8 Suggested Bet – MISS MALIBU WIN RACE 3 APACHE RABBIT could not have been more impressive first-up. Is a bit of a staying mare so no surprise to see her run a cheeky race first-up but she really did attack the line. That form is really stacking up with La Vina and Jaguar Grey impressive at their next starts. Up to 1400 suits and she should go well. MIMS WIN gets a 3kg weight swing on Apache Rabbit for beating her home last start with the services of Madi Derrick. With any luck should be in the mix. WORTH A RISK is going well without winning. Breaks maiden status soon. LOVE STRIKES next best but drawn horribly. Numbers: 9 – 1 – 8 – 11 Suggested Bet – APACHE RABBIT WIN RACE 4 CHOKSLAM has only had the three career runs but all have been good enough. Yet to finish out of the money and the recent trial was super impressive. The inside has been a no go zone at Bunbury of late but Jason Whiting should be able to work his way off the fence and get her into clear running. NOT MY FIGHT may be allowed to roll and was stiff to run into a talented one last start. BLACK LIGHTNING did nothing wrong in two starts last preparation and gets the services of W.Pike. SWEET RULER can run a race on debut. Numbers: 6 – 10 – 11 – 3 Suggested Bet – CHOKSLAM WIN RACE 5 VALIDATION gets the nod in a wide open race. Was shooting up the inside last start and to the naked eye was given every possible chance. When you go back and review the meeting it was at least 3L inferior going where she was and for that reason she can go very close to winning here. AGENT JAY was impressive bolting in his maiden after a freshen up. GIBRALTAR DANCER is going well and Mitchell Pateman on is a big plus. DANI BELLA steps out beyond 1000m which is a little query but has a turn of acceleration. Numbers: 6 – 2 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – VALIDATION WIN RACE 6 ANGELIQUE’S FAME is starting to build an imposing record. Didn’t look a world beater and only won a very weak Narrogin maiden to start the preparation but the last two wins have been brilliant. Clearly this filly, like all of Michael Lane’s stable, is flying and there is no reason why she can’t sit off them and zap them again. COSMIC EYES kept fresh can be forgiven for the last start. Previous win was big and in cracking time. MISSING PRO is very well placed into a race like this and just needs to step cleanly. DELANEY will finish hard late. Numbers: 5 – 6 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – ANGELIQUE’S FAME WIN RACE 7 POWER OF ST GEORGE looks like he could really come of age this preparation. Is only a C1 winner in a C5 race but he is progressive and even doing every possible thing wrong last start was still impressive. They were walking and he was all at sea, wobbled the bend and then came late. Senior rider on is a huge plus and he can get over them here. ROCKY PATH has been screaming out for 1400 and gets William Pike aboard. Some of her recent replays are enormous. KAKADU never got out last Saturday in a tougher race than this. BEE QUICK gets every chance from the gate. Numbers: 7 – 14 – 2 – 11 Suggested Bet – POWER OF ST GEORGE WIN RACE 8 THE LAST BREEZE had a really bad campaign when last in work but since a freshen up has really improved. The entire Brett Pope yard are going 10L better than they were 3 months ago and this looks a winnable race for him. Just need luck from the draw. BOMBAY STYLE has been mixing form but from the draw he can settle over the speed and go well. MERIVALE MAGIC was bitterly disappointing last start, she is better than that. JADAVI didn’t get out until late last start. Improver. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 5 – 7 Suggested Bet – THE LAST BREEZE WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,2,3,6,7 2,5,6 2,7,11,14 2,3,4,5,7 Market Market
