Scott Embry’s Sunday Broome Preview Posted on June 25, 2021June 25, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 ALL METAL looks to get her best opportunity to date to break through and give Danny & Luke Morton their first winner of the season. Fourth over 1000m behind Do Your Best and subsequent winner The Wise One and last start chased hard at the 1100. Gets out in trip again to suit and is drawn favourably. JONO finds another new home (Parnham to Fernie to Casey). Myriad of gear changes and Boy Hill heading to Broome catches the attention. KALAKAUA let out a brilliantly savage kick shortly after the start at Port Hedland last start (watch the replay!) and went well out deep. PRORATED gets another go with the shades on. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – ALL METAL WIN RACE 2 OMBUDSMAN vs HOOLAHOOPS looks a match race on paper and with the 4kg claim of Rosie Mahony and the additional distance we’ll side with OMBUDSMAN. Ran better than what it looks on paper first-up at an unsuitable 1200m and improved again last start when travelling nicely leader’s back with minimal room to move. Proved that he gets through the surface and here out to a mile he can punch forward and breeze. From there he’s hard to beat. HOOLAHOOPS looked the winner throughout running last start and was only just defeated by back to back winner Pit To Win. Loses no admirers and is the obvious danger and likely favourite. RED’S MATE was excellent two starts back. YOURTHEONEFORME can lead them up and give cheek. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 5 – 9 Suggested Bet – OMBUDSMAN WIN RACE 3 PIT TO WIN is impossible to knock on the two runs at Broome. First-up lead them running at 1200m in a race run 4L faster than C2 average and backed it up last start at 1435 when sitting on top of the tempo throughout and holding out Hoolahoops and Ombudsman who should dominate race 2 between them to make the form look even stronger. Steps up into 58+ company but gets weight relief and should find the breeze. FOO TROUBLE can be forgiven for last start’s effort. Prior to that went around $3.30 and was beaten half a length in this grade. BRAVE CONTENDER was a black book performance first-up and the stable is going super. ALLURING is the first Jeff Noske runner of the season and can bob up from time to time. Numbers: 6 – 2 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – PIT TO WIN WIN RACE 4 SLICK UNIT was simply too quick for them first-up in a C1. Lead running and romped in by over 3L. Should again find the front for Lisa Staples and these types can continue on their way through the grades if they jump, run and handle the surface. This is tougher but still looms as the one to beat. CRASH HAT LADY found a lot of traffic in the same race. Looks like they’ll have plenty of fun with her in this grade as they step her out over further and she can find the top. MOORUMBINE toyed with them first-up and was good enough second-up. Honest type. CHEVAL DE VAGA brings intrigue. Didn’t handle Carnarvon but Broome is a different kettle of fish. Numbers: 2 – 6 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – SLICK UNIT WIN RACE 5 MISS ELLMYA resumed in a 70+ when going round at $2.15 and was run down late in the piece after the saddle slipped and left Spud Galati at a disadvantage. Second-up remained in 70+ company, stepped to 1200 and was run down late by track specialist Desert Thorn and talented on-paced Song of Vincent. Drops from 70+ back to 58+ and back to 1000m. Meets some other speedy types but if she can find the front or the breeze she’s the class mare who is very well placed. CLASSY LASSY has her first start on the dirt and is very quick. No doubt Ryan Hill will be looking to clear the majority of those drawn underneath. Could be worth following. DANEHILL STORM will keep chasing. PREVAILING WINDS likewise. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 7 – 2 Suggested Bet – MISS ELLMYA WIN RACE 6 DESERT THORN should just keep winning the way he’s going. His last start effort was one of the biggest and most impressive victories to the eye (and sectionally) that Broome has seen in recent years. He was a mile back on a leader dominated program and in a race where they were running (overall race time 4.5L faster than 70+ average). To gun them down with arrogance shows that he’ll be winning plenty more. SONG OF VINCENT should appreciate not having to chase Miss Ellmya in the middle stages. Obvious danger. STRIKE FORCE has been a little hit and miss. DECEPTION GAME one to see how he handles the surface. Looking for a mile minimum. Numbers: 6 – 7 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – DESERT THORN WIN RACE 7 ZIP YOUR LIPS (hopefully) gets under the guard of early markets. Resumed first-up no trial for his Broome debut and was drawn gate 11 of 12. Missed away, sat last, went back to the inside, copped a face full of kickback and then was uncompetitive, finishing last beaten over 18L. Second-up he steps to a more suitable mile race, has the services of Peter Hall and is drawn a gate. Keep safe and follow any trickle of money. UNBREAKABLE will be looking to repeat the jump and run tactics of last start when victorious. ELLEOFADEEL was a strong Broome debut for a Cups type. REUCOOP won well at the opening meeting. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 6 – 8 Suggested Bet – ZIP YOUR LIPS WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,2,3,6,8 1,6 6,7 1,2,3,6,8,9,12 Market Market
