Scott Embry’s Saturday Newman Preview Posted on August 24, 2023 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 SHY BOY is the class runner of the race. His last four starts have been in 56+ company, including a 2L win over Amelia’s Belief and he now finds himself in a 48+ at Newman. After the Ava Catarino claim he carries the same weight in a 48+ as he did last start in a 56+. Excellent placement and excellent use of the claim. GINGER CHARM looks the logical danger. She’s quick and should have no troubles working her way to the top. KING HALLOWELL has raced consistently throughout his dirt campaign. WARPIPES is a bit hit and miss. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – SHY BOY WIN RACE 2 BLITZEM HENRY showed them a clean set of plates at Broome in a C2 on Cup day. He lead throughout and dominated then winning by over 2.5L from Song Cycle. 7 days later he finds himself in a 48+ at Newman and will likely look to lead and win again. COMMANDS RESPECT was a massive winner at Port Hedland three starts ago when three deep the trip and then finished second to subsequent Broome winner Our Kiwi Princess. NITRO LAD gets a soft run along the fence. WHOS YOUR MAMA is stretched at 1400. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 6 – 3 Suggested Bet – BLITZEM HENRY WIN RACE 3 SONG CYCLE has been building and building with each and every dirt run this season. Beaten under a length behind Send It Son and Contessa Medici three starts ago and ran second to Getyourmoneyandrun on Ladies Day at Broome. No weight and kicks through along the fence. CONTESSA MEDICI is attacking the line hard. She’ll sit midfield and come with a sustained run. ORTUM KRISP drops 2kg and comes back 135m from Cup Day. Wasn’t tested late. CHAVORIO is looking for three straight but rises 3kg in weight into a deep race. Numbers: 8 – 4 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – SONG CYCLE WIN RACE 4 TRISUEM has turned a corner in the Marto Cob colours. Won a 58+ 1435 in the first week of August as the 20-1 outsider in a field of 5. Two starts later she was able to win the Pearl Classic and gave Ava Catarino her first feature victory. She’s in career best form and he’s really attacking the line. UNO ME is capable of coming out positive in a race which doesn’t have an obvious leader on paper and taking up a prominent position. As consistent as they come. AL MAGICO has been there abouts all preparation since joining Tom Pike. DON’T WAIVER destroyed them at Derby but hasn’t quite raced at the same level since. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 2 – 5 Suggested Bet – TRISUEM WIN RACE 5 LAND OF VALENS has been a wonderful acquisition for Tom Pike. Winner at Ascot in a 60+ 1000, winner at Port Hedland over 1200m on two occasions and then second behind Apple Schnapps in the Broome Sprint. He’s on speed and he’s fairly fool proof. After the claim of Ava Catarino he carries the same weight in the Newman Sprint as he did in the Broome Sprint. PIT TO WIN has had yet another wonderful Broome season. Has 63.5kg to carry but he’s tough. WAR WARRIOR has form all in and around Land Of Valens. There’s no much between them. GAMBLER’S GOLD drops 4kg and comes back to a far more suitable distance. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet – LAND OF VALENS WIN RACE 6 SINGLETON PARK, HEZAZEB and KORANIS all back up out of the Broome Cup. SINGLETON PARK beat them both home when running third in the Broome Cup and meets both of them 3kg better at the weights. Looks a really good chance for him to break through and take home a country Cup. HEZAZEB already has two of them in the cabinet having won the Roebourne/Port Hedland Cup double. Big respect. KORANIS won the Cable Beach Caravan Park Cup beating home Powerful and True Attraction. SO SCHMICK a blow out chance. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – SINGLETON PARK WIN Quaddie (Race 3 – 6) 2,3,4,5,8 1,3 1,2,5,6, 1,2,5 Market Market
