Scott Embry’s Saturday Narrogin Preview Posted on December 18, 2020December 18, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 THE ANVIL showed huge glimpses of ability at trials back in May 2020. Won a Belmont trial by almost 8L and then a Lark Hill trial by 4L. Hasn’t been a lot to come out of those trials opposition quality wise but she still showed enough talent at the races to suggest she takes beating first-up here. SNIPPILICOUS was disappointing first-up at Albany but then far better last start at Narrogin when going close. SHE’S NO ANGEL brings alternate form and trialled nicely. ADRASTEA in a similar boat. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 7 – 5 Suggested Bet – THE ANVIL WIN RACE 2 RAYARNIE has been going well this preparation without winning one. Snaggers Sardelic takes the weight right down, he draws a gate and can position right over the top of the speed. Suited in this grade and seems to go well on the undulating tracks. LEXDEN GAMBLER might get under the radar. The last two have been very impressive and can definitely play a part here. HARD TOO CEE is loving the York/Narrogin types of circuit and can be a sharp improver. TRUE ORA won well last start and is a definite chance of going back to back. Numbers: 5 – 6 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet – RAYARNIE WIN RACE 3 RIP AND SNIP steps up sharply in trip but this is one of the weakest maidens going round and he is the lightly raced and most ‘progressive’ horse in the field. Adam Durrant’s horses get better and better into the preparation and out further and further in trip. WHAITIRI showed a little something last start and might be worth following. OCEAN CANDY is becoming increasingly frustrating. Has enough ability but mixes form badly. KEBALAH has had 62 opportunities, but this is one of the better ones. Numbers: 3 – 5 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – RIP AND SNIP WIN RACE 4 SEA SPRING is going well and like many of these doesn’t win out of turn and hasn’t won for a while. Since joining Paige Kenney seems to have improved and is ultra consistent. Has the recent ratings to win this and after the claim gets in with a luxurious 52kg. Won’t get a better chance. VITAL BOOM was big two starts ago and like Sea Spring brings some of the Albany form. PHEONIX OF WIT will roll to the top and take running down. YOU AM I should be about ready fourth-up. Numbers: 8 – 6 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – SEA SPRING WIN RACE 5 CLEVE’S WATCHING ran some seriously good races at massive prices in far tougher grade when last in work. Fourth at Belmont behind False Statement, Expressionist and Leading Man was one of the better runs and could well run a cheeky race here. Nothing wrong with the recent trial either. FAIR EUGENIE is an interesting runner. Had some good form around her in Geraldton and now joins Steele Casey who can get these tried horses to improve sharply. DOLLY EM will win one in this grade sooner rather than later when finding the top. AFLICA’S GIRL is well placed by Bruce Watkins. Numbers: 6 – 8 – 7 – 2 Suggested Bet – CLEVE’S WATCHING EACWHAY RACE 6 MISS MERIT was super last start when getting within a length of Leica Jaguar late in the race. Leica Jaguar backed-up off 7 days and won another race to make the form look even better. Winner at Narrogin, Spud Galati starting to ride a few winners, looks hard to beat. NIYACHI is a track specialist with 5 races at Narrogin for a win and four minors. Good effort last start in a high rating 52+ behind the talented front runner Foo Trouble. With the claim for Victoria Cover and the draw he looks in the mix. REACTION seems to run a great race and then a moderate race (repeat). If he puts in his best he is easily good enough to win this. FOXY ROYAL is well placed this grade but the weight has caught up with her again. Numbers: 2 – 8 – 7 – 5 Suggested Bet – MISS MERIT WIN RACE 7 MASSA MAC has been around the mark his entire career and when kept to this outer provincial races is always hard to hold out late. Needs races to be run to suit because he tends to get back in his runs but his recent form is alright and Keshaw Dhurun is starting to emerge as a talented apprentice. SIXPENCE SPENT might have to lump 64.5kg but his last start effort in the Grandstand Cup is far superior form to anything in this field. ALL ON BLACK won well first start for Paul Tapper and was handy at trials. MISS HARLEY QUINN needs luck but is capable.
