Scott Embry’s Saturday Mingenew Preview Posted on March 7, 2024March 7, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 I’M ON and HERO IN THE WIND both come through the Miff Muffered Moof race at Geraldton 8 days ago which was a C1 1400 run 3.5L faster than average. Going to put the two eggs in one basket and suggest that is the strongest form reference race in the opener and from the draw going to go with I’M ON who looks like getting a soft run close handy to the speed. HERO IN THE WIND gets a 2kg weight swing on the filly and Bruce Kay makes a few gear changes. SILVER SAX backs up off 5 days and ran well again last start. GLYDA next best. Numbers: 6 – 1 – 9 – 5 Suggested Bet – I’M ON WIN RACE 2 HOW PRETTY resumes for Adam Durrant and ZJP. On debut at Northam she was only beaten 4L by Native Flower, Silver Eye and Seeyouatthesession before heading to a 3 year old 0MWLY and a Geraldton maiden when 2L off the winner. First-up, no trial, big market watch. DIXIE PRINCESS is a jump and run type of filly who now has a set of blinkers attached. She has raced in a C2 and a C1 at Geraldton her last two and hasn’t been disgraced. Danger. VIKING FOREVER and STAY ASTERN are both now long time maidens deep into their campaigns (both at start 13 of the prep). Numbers: 9 – 8 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – HOW PRETTY WIN RACE 3 MASTER BUDDHA usually turns up for these once a year meetings. In March 2023 he was backed as if unbeatable at Pingrup and duly saluted before going on to win a 46+ at Narrogin only three starts later. His first-up run last campaign was in a 52+ at Belmont and he was only beaten 1.5L. Looks a nice starting point for him. PEPPI GROVE has had another freshen. Her first-up run behind Russian Sniper at Geraldton in October would be winning this. BAYHARA probably has some of the best race form to her name but might be wanting further than 1200? RAGING BEAUTY can come out running. Numbers: 3 – 9 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet – MASTER BUDDHA WIN RACE 4 RUSSIAN SNIPER was scratched from a C5 at Pinjarra on Thursday to join the travelling Durrant team to Mingenew on Saturday. He won a 58+ at Mt Barker two back and then ran second to Oxbridge in a 70+ at Albany last start. Oxbridge smashes the clock every time he races and most recently went 5L quicker than average. Russian Sniper beat home Morgs Freeman (subsequent winner) and looks hard to beat in the Sprint. MANTELLI has been racing well since joining Aaron Pateman. 1200m looks on his limit but barrier 1 is ideal. THREE SESSIONS won the sprint last year with 60.5kg but doesn’t look to be going as well. LUCY DA GREY can go quick. Numbers: 3 – 5 – 1 – 6 Suggested Bet – RUSSIAN SNIPER WIN RACE 5 STAADEN is the winner of a Port Hedland Cup and a Broome Cup (2021) who has since had a long time away from racing (686 days between the 2021 Carnarvon Cup and resuming in July 2023). He hasn’t been too bad recently in far better races than this and no doubt it’s been on his program for a while as he continues to build in fitness and confidence. Timing looks right but 62kg is an ask. FLOAT OUR BOAT can roll straight to the top and give a sight. LUCKY HEART another tough on pace runner. EGG WHITE has returned in good order. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 7 – 2 Suggested Bet – STAADEN WIN RACE 6 BRISANCE and SET THE SCENE are both free rolling front running types who are drawn alongside each other in barrier 3 & 2 respectively. BRISANCE was disappointing last start but he now has the blinkers going back on as well as the tongue tie going back on. Looks a great chance for them to return to his preferred racing pattern of breaking them open and that would see him hard to beat in this. SET THE SCENE is more than capable of tow balling him in the run and zapping him late. Can absorb pressure. TRISUEM an improver second-up. UNO ME is going better than numerical form suggests. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet – BRISANCE WIN Quaddie (Race 3 – 6) 2,3,4,5,6,9 3,5 1,6,7 1,2,3 Market Market
