Scott Embry’s Saturday Kununurra Preview Posted on August 22, 2024August 22, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 PRINCESS PANCAKES won an RB64 over 1400 at Alice Springs back in April and since then has raced consistently. This is a massive drop in grade for her back into a 51+ at Kununurra and in a race without much speed should nearly lead them up. THE STIFMEISTER looks the logical (only?) danger on paper. Backing up off 7 days, drawn inside, drops 2kg on his last start run at Katherine and Tayarn Halter’s team always go well at these meetings. KING HALLOWELL hasn’t handled dirt racing that well so far. NO RAIN NO FLOWERS next best. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – PRINCESS PANCAKES WIN RACE 2 EZELOVE is still a maiden galloper but will carry 60kg top weight such is the lack of depth in this line-up. Comes through a C1 1300 at Broome on Ladies Day which was run 2.5L faster than average behind Pushover and on the 4 day back-up he really gets his chance to break through. THE GIRLS BOY hasn’t fired a shot recently but comes into this off 28 days and back in distance could be an improver. BARANI and FLASH FIORENTE can kick through from inside draws to hold prominent on speed positions. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – EZELOVE WIN RACE 3 IM A DREAMER won an RB62 over 1600 in Darwin third-up when sitting close handy and proving too good for them late. Comes through a race where they broke the clock (overall time 13L faster than average) so willing to forgive, forget and on the 7 day spin follow. Won off 7 das over a mile in June 2023 and should park over the speed. REAL DIVINE was in the same race that IM A DREAMER won on 31 July and wasn’t beaten far at all. Capable of turning the tables. DIP ME LID has the servies of Adam Nicholls. Respect off that alone. PLAYIN HARDBALL next best. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 2 – 5 Suggested Bet – IM A DREAMER WIN RACE 4 STORY OF STELLA had her first race at Darwin in a C2 1100 when sitting on speed and fading out at 40-1. In the end was beaten 5L but should be improved for the experience and will no doubt find this lowly 48+ easier. Straight to the top. ROMERO also has speed to burn and can hold a prominent spot in running. No doubt Roy Rogers has targeted a few gallopers at this exact meeting. OLD MATE SMITHY ran well last start from off-speed into second. ROSE OF DENMARK next best on the 4 day spin. Numbers: 5 – 4 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – STORY OF STELLA WIN RACE 5 ROCAPOZZENE finished third behind NW Horse of the Year Dark City and subsequent winner Disco Donut three starts back before running into Ginger Jones (won two on the bounce before heading to the Broome Sprint) and then flopped badly last start. Freshened and can be ridden for pure speed here. DEMBE may be looking for a touch further but is the class runner of the race. HELLIVIT holds a spot and Adam Nicholls is statistically the rider to follow at the meeting. FREEDOM DAY can punch through and is a previous 7 day winner. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – ROCAPOZZENE WIN RACE 6 ARTIES COMET won a 58+ 1600 at Broome and then finished second to Let’s Sea and then Vevinsky. Think he’s been aimed up at this little series of races and expect he’ll be hard to beat. In the small field he should work his way to nearly the lead and from there he’s hrad to beat. BOOM BOOM SWEET finished second to Kippax and then won over 1800m this time last year at Kununurra. Those runs were his 15th and 16th runs of the preparation and 12 months later he comes into it a lot earlier in his campaign. A BIG CHANCE is racing very well. CORDEN next best. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – ARTIES COMET WIN RACE 7 RAFFALLI is no stranger to Kununurra racing having raced here for a few seasons now and always with success. In 2023 he had two runs at Kununurra and both were all the way victories. By 3.5L and by 4L. The first of those was off 7 days from an RB70 at Katherine. Exact same set up in 2024. PRINCE RAGNAR is quick and if they ride him for speed he would be a big chance of crossing these from the outside. Like many of Roy Rogers horses come into this meeting 5 weeks between runs. MISS BLACK DIAMOND is racing well and can hold a spot right over the speed. KUMICHO has been building in Darwin. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – RAFFALLI WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 4,5 1,2,3,6,7 1,2 2 Market Market
