Scott Embry’s Saturday Esperance Preview Posted on March 5, 2021March 5, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 WHEATSTACK THEIF like many of these is on the 6 day back-up from Esperance Cup Day and ran second in the most prevalent form reference behind Liquidity. Ran well at his last two and with the winkers on and the quick back-up from an ideal draw he gets his chance to break through. NAUGHTY THOUGHTIES is the fresh horse on the scene for Helen Harding. Should offset the wide gate by rolling forward and sitting over the speed. WATTOS REWARD has teased punters the last few meetings with the occasional eye-catching display. JOLLY LACE is going well. Numbers: 5 – 4 – 8 – 11 Suggested Bet – WHEATSTACK THEIF WIN RACE 2 CLOAK AND DAGGER gets 2.5kg on Indian Chant and 1.5kg on Helms Gate for a narrow defeat in the Esperance Sprint. Great pick-up ride for Victoria Cover and from the draw ‘Cloaky’ can sit close handy and break through after some impressive and unlucky performances in the last few months. INDIAN CHANT ran well in the sprint but does concede weight to all rivals from that race. HELMS GATE is flying and has really turned the clock back this season. PIRATES MISTRESS shoots through to likely lead them up. Numbers: 7 – 5 – 2 – 8 Suggested Bet – CLOAK AND DAGGER WIN RACE 3 BLISTER IN THE SUN and DIRTY DOT look to hold a mortgage over the race for MR Peter Fernie. Siding with the lightly raced mare BLISTER IN THE SUN who chased around speedy stablemate Neurologic last start. Neurologic gave real cheek last week in a stronger class of race and BLISTER IN THE SUN can sit close handy from the draw. DIRTY DOT has the services of an in form Peter Hall. Looks the logical danger. WARZACHANTZ finds a new home and goes well fresh. TRASH PANDA can roll from the inside draw. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 7 – 6 Suggested Bet – BLISTER IN THE SUN WIN RACE 4 ARSINOE has been a revelation this season for Fiona Scott and her team. Peter Hall picks up the ride here and on the quick back-up, back in grade, she looks awfully hard to toss. Eyes will be on the fixed odds markets Friday afternoon to see what price she opens because she does look a class above her rivals here. SIGIL is Sigil. He runs the same honest race without winning. TEMPLE MAN has hit a bit of form but will need things to go his way from the draw. BOOTLEG RASCAL is slowly but surely improving. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 7 – 3 Suggested Bet – ARSINOE WIN RACE 5 SOUND OF FURY backs up off 6 days, gets 4kg on Fair One and 2kg on Black Comet for the effort last weekend and with Victoria Cover engaged can roll to the top and lead them a merry dance. Robert Payton has him going super and he looks to have found an ideal race. BLACK COMET will concede them a head start from the draw but has a powerful turn of foot on her day. FAIR ONE was strong last week and will likely stalk every move of Sound of Fury. MEXI COLA is the intriguing runner dropping out of the Cup. Numbers: 6 – 5 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – SOUND OF FURY WIN RACE 6 ABOARD was tested at the staying trips of recent times and was far from disgraced in any of her efforts. When she lead she was attacked, when she sat they walked, nothing really went right for her in any of those races. She is now dropping back to a mile, rock hard fit and on the fresh side after not contesting a race last weekend. Looks a great opportunity for her. YAMATI is flying for Georgia Grant. Her entire team is going well and this mare should get every chance from the draw. FOXY DREAMER needs luck but equally so is flying under the new stable. SKETCH LINE is going well enough to win but does seem to find bad luck. Numbers: 6 – 7 – 5 – 11 Suggested Bet – ABOARD WIN Quaddie (Race 3 – 6) 1,3 1 1,3,4,5,6 1,4,5,6,10,11 Market Market
