Scott Embry’s Saturday Ascot Preview Posted on May 13, 2021May 14, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 MISS QUOTED has only won one race from 33 outings but this is arguably one of the weaker race she has seen in recent times. Last four runs have all been excellent, including placing to talented 3 year old Hot Zed, placing behind Image Keeper (beating home Pink ‘N’ Gray and Dew West) and then hitting the line strongly from an impossible position in the Westspeed Platinum Final. Runs for Mitch Pateman, does no work and can pinch this. PLAYING RED went close first-up in C1 grade. This is no tougher but she does grow a leg in the wet. PINK ‘N’ GRAY is a great bread and butter horse. Deserves to win one of these. BOSNIPP is mixing her form. May be best suited rolling. Numbers: 4 – 7 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – MISS QUOTED EACHWAY RACE 2 AIN’T NO OTHER MAN comes from a hot form reference race. Finished fourth behind Flying Missile, Ultimate Command and Astrape at his most recent, with those three again running the trifecta in order at their next encounter. Steps out to 1400m, drawn a gate and drops 2kg staying in the same SWP conditions with Laqdar Ramoly’s claim. Looks well suited. COLD SHIZZLE ran extremely well on debut when chasing round speedy filly Ponyo. BUZZOOM was in the same race and had to pull out deep to make a run at them. Lost no admirers. ROMMEL’S COMMAND takes luck out of the equation by rolling to the top. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 6 – 2 Suggested Bet – AIN’T NO OTHER MAN WIN RACE 3 SON SON looks well placed taking on the older horses in this 60+ Graduation. Lightly raced, super progressive and is highly versatile. Joey Azzopardi can roll to the front if he wants in a race without any genuine exposed tempo. Not convinced he handled the track conditions last start which goes to show how well he is tracking. Back on top of the ground he is a big chance to make it four from seven. MINI WINNIE wasn’t overly suited by the sit sprint conditions last start. Reunites with Pateman and gets a more genuine tempo to trail. BILLY RAY will settle rearwards and likely goes round short again. Improving quickly but always vulnerable. SOWAR attacked the line well last start. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 9 – 2 Suggested Bet – SON SON WIN RACE 4 THAT’S FUNNY AZ drops back from a 78+ (Quality Handicap) Diggers Cup at 1800m to 74+ mile. Races extremely well off the 21 day spacing and finds another race where he can roll forward and sit in the breeze outside likely pacemaker and roughie Saucy Jack. The three horses who finished in front of him were 2x Group 1 winners Trap for Fools and Come Play With Me and an emerging staying star in Marocchino. Hard to knock the way he’s going. WAR GOD and BRUCE ALMIGHTY both back up from last week and are both racing in grand form at the minute. MRS BROWNS BOY looks ready to peak and has dropped back to a suitable metro rating again. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 6 – 5 Suggested Bet – THAT’S FUNNY AZ WIN RACE 5 MYSTICAL VIEW will be the lesser fancied runners of the Cerise and White but is no slouch. Went into the Belgravia Stakes undefeated when running second to then stablemate Magical Dream, beating home Watch Me Dance, Gemma’s Son, Snickerdoodledandy and Queen Brown. Was then stepped out in trip which didn’t seem to suit her before dropping back to the 1200m of the Placid Ark when running third to Chantorque and Charleton Eddie. Gets under the guard. GRACEFUL GIRL does look ready to start fulfilling the potential of her breeding (full sister to State Solicitor). Finished her initial campaign with two booming victories. MISS LIVINIA worked hard in the breeze last start and was far from disgraced. QUEEN BROWN chased hard first-up. Numbers: 3 – 8 – 2 – 9 Suggested Bet – MYSTICAL VIEW EACHWAY RACE 6 ACROMANTULA is a fool proof sprinter the way he’s going. Comes from 3 year old 62+ handicap races into a 66+ taking on the older horses but with We’ve Got Dreams and This’ll Testya both drawn outside of him (and both with their own convictions: weight/barrier manners and map) he gets another wonderful chance to jump, rail, dictate and kick off the corner. Awfully hard to beat in these 1000m sprints. PANZDOWN has won three on the trot and is showing an electric turn of foot. Toughest test to date but trending in the right direction. LONG BEACH and SILKINIZE are both quality ratings sprinters resuming. Will chase hard. Numbers: 7 – 4 – 2 – 5 Suggested Bet – ACROMANTULA WIN RACE 7 BLACK SHADOW simply pulled himself into the ground last start in a race that was robbed of all the speed when Treat Yo Self was withdrawn. Race turned into a muddling run, sit, sprint affair and there were plenty of hard luck stories. Being forgiving and hoping that there’s more tempo here. Holds form well. COME RIGHT BACK really ran through the line once he balanced up. Does look ready to go right through the winter staying ranks. No reason he can’t win again. FINAL CHILL should find a suitable race to make his customary last to first Dashing Dan Kirov Boy style move at the 800. SECRET PEARL is starting to peak and should track up nicely mid-race. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – BLACK SHADOW EACHWAY RACE 8 MASSIMO is certainly not well suited at Weight For Age conditions and doesn’t have the same level of brilliance as a number of his opponents but what he does have on his side is a brilliant map. Sat three deep with cover in the Northam Sprint and is far better suited out to 1200 and drawn inside. With speed drawn wide (Valour Road, The Velvet King, Money Matters and Carocapo) he can kick through underneath them into an ideal position. Can surprise a few of the fancies at double figures. FLIRTINI was all the rage in the Northam Stakes and never really travelled the winner. Pike spent a lot of time looking for a clear passage and she only got going late. Blinkers on and triples in price. Worth following up. ELITE STREET is a WFA Group 1 Winterbottom Stakes winner. If the Elite Street of November 2020 turns up, he’ll be winning. Should get a lovely run midfield with cover. CUP NIGHT has his work cut out from the draw. Pat Carbery’s average ride on this horse is an 11/10 so definitely can’t rule him out. Numbers: 7 – 15 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – MASSIMO EACHWAY RACE 9 NERODIO has come back to racing brilliantly. Loomed and peaked first-up when finishing third behind Miss Conteki and Moschard. Second-up improved again when pushing Miss Conteki to a neck over 1000m when running past Gemma’s Son and River Beau. Maps to get an ideal run one out and two back and from there looks the horse to beat in the final race of the Ascot Season. MOSCHARD is flying and is yet to enjoy a barrier or any luck this campaign. Dangerous off 7 days. NAUGHTY BY NATURE will be chasing over the 1200 but her recent trial was sensational. CAPTAIN KINK has another tricky draw but is going super. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 7 – 5 Suggested Bet – NERODIO WIN Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 2,4,7 1,2,3,5,7 1,2,3,6,7,11,15 1,4 Market Market
