Scott Embry’s Saturday Ascot Preview Posted on May 7, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 BELAFONTE BOY backs up from last Saturday when running against far more talented 3 year olds than what he meets in this open maiden race. Could sneak under the radar and open a juicy eachway quote. Certainly not impossible. INTERSTATE backs up off 6 days, comes back from a mile to 1400 and draws to box seat. There was nothing at all between the runs of Interstate and I Hope You Dance last time they met and there will be a fairly decent market discrepancy between the pair. I HOPE YOU DANCE is deep into the campaign but racing well and with Pike on gets her chance to lead and win. FLOAT OUR BOAT looked like he would relish a step up in trip. Numbers: 6 – 2 – 9 – 4 Suggested Bet – BELAFONTE BOY EACHWAY RACE 2 CHARLETON EDDIE is likely to open around the $1.35 mark and that is a deserving price. Winner of three from four and most likely four from five by 1pm on Saturday. Has to carry 60.5kg but that really is a luxury against a field of maidens and debutantes. Should cap off a great 2 year old season with another thumping all the way victory. GHOBELLA has chased hard at two outings and looks the testing material. MISS IVY LEAGUE has race experience. NAUGHTY THOUGHTIES was alright at the 400m jump outs. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 8 – 3 Suggested Bet – CHARLETON EDDIE WIN RACE 3 PLATINUM BULLET has the runs on the board, RESORTMAN has been trialling the house down at Bunbury. Opinions sure to be divided with CAPTAIN KINK, BLAZING BILLY and SEA WAR just behind them in thought processes. Intriguing contest but going to side with RESORTMAN. RESORTMAN was dominant on debut when charging down the middle to win soft. Likely to box seat behind Captain Kink and with even luck looks like proving hard to beat fresh. PLATINUM BULLET was a moral last start against moderate C3 opposition. She demolished them and won in style. 61kg here and a very tough draw to either settle last or three deep with cover in the small field. CAPTAIN KINK has a motor and no surprise to see Pateman lead in this field. BLAZING BILLY won with his eyes closed last two starts when heavily commissioned in the market. Best race of the day. Numbers: 8 – 1 – 6 – 2 Suggested Bet – RESORTMAN WIN RACE 4 TYCOON LEGEND can be a hard horse to catch but he is absolutely flying and this looks a very suitable assignment for him. Backs up off 7 days and has won previously off the quick back-up. His last four runs have been enormous and with any luck in running he should be awfully hard to hold out late. ORANGE STRUDEL has been knocking on the door for months and now has a key riding change. Drawn soft he is a big blowout danger. BLANKENBERGE is in white hot form and may even open eachway. Impossible to knock her form and she looks like getting into a wonderful position in the map. ROSEBUSH scratched from a winnable race on Thursday to save for this. Numbers: 10 – 11 – 7 – 8 Suggested Bet – TYCOON LEGEND WIN RACE 5 More questions than answers in this race and almost a field job for early quaddie players. Much like Laufey last week this back marker is going to need a 12/10 ride or some serious luck but FIRE MAKER is in career best form. Ran straight past King Blitz to win two starts ago and then was tracking through the field and launching late at Pinjarra last start. 3 deep cover or ridden for luck, either way he is a risky investment but going very well. ICE TRADE is another who is a big query in the map. Where does she get to? Winner of two of her last three and in white hot form. JARMAN made a mess of the start at his most recent. If he jumps he gets a nice run. HEART OF COEUR caught the eye last week but has a terrible barrier. Numbers: 2 – 5 – 9 – 3 Suggested Bet – FIRE MAKER EACHWAY RACE 6 MEGAZONE simply jumps off the page and picks himself in a fairly moderate 72+ mile. Finished powerfully first-up in a hot form race behind Black Ducati, Gates of Babylon and Moschard and then last weekend was never on the track and kept coming. Backing up off 7 days, senior rider on and up to a mile he looks very well placed. BELLA’S IDOL will need an ounce of luck to get in from a wide gate but if he does is a winning chance. PINSSON brings Geraldton c70+ form to town which normally is not enough to measure up but he has been luckless and draws to box seat. FAIR SONARI gets his first chance of the preparation to lead. Numbers: 5 – 7 – 6 – 2 Suggested Bet – MEGAZONE WIN RACE 7 MASSIMO was scratched last week with a grass seed caused jaw abscess. Was supported early into favourite in a 78+ race and instead comes into this even more suitable 68+. Has to lump 61kg but draws to box seat and do no work. Big strong stakes winning 3 year old who should prove hard to hold out. BLACK DUCATI is an up and coming mare having won 4 of her 7 career outings. Big win first-up off the back of a hot trial and the form around her has already been excellent. DOUBLE BUBBLE is a noted wet tracker and should be able to fire to the top. CRYPTIC LOVE is a huge talent but this looks another unsuitable race for her (as we learnt last start). Numbers: 1 – 9 – 11 – 3 Suggested Bet – MASSIMO WIN RACE 8 NOIR DE RUE will be the lesser thought of Justin Warwick stayer in this feature event but his two runs in this campaign have been super. Actually beat 3 horses home over 1000m first-up and then really caught the eye in the Diggers Cup. Big difference here is there is no speed at all and Chris Parnham should waltz to the lead. UTGARD LOKI was the run of the race in the Digger Cup at his first start over 1800. Got knocked around at the crossing just after jumping when he was in midfield and then had to work forward three deep to find a position. Big effort and again looks the hardest to beat. MYSTERY MISS was a little flat in the Diggers Cup. Capable of rebounding hard. PADDY’S SHADOW lobs a nice spot in running and drops significant weight. Numbers: 6 – 7 – 5 – 10 Suggested Bet – NOIR DE RUE EACHWAY RACE 9 Last leg of the quaddie looks impossible to pin point a winner. Going wide with LOCOMOTIVE who will need some serious luck from the wide gate but has the necessary gate speed to hopefully get into a position that isn’t three deep outside the leader. Strong effort last start in a cracking hot form race and looks about ready to fire. TOLLMAN was enormous at his most recent but could well have 13 horses in front of him at the 600. DARK CHOICE is going well and Chris Graham is riding her perfectly. NICE GO should be almost ready. Numbers: 5 – 3 – 1 – 13 Suggested Bet – LOCOMOTIVE EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 5,7 1,9 5,6,7 FIELD Market Market
