Scott Embry’s Saturday Ascot Preview Posted on April 16, 2020April 19, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 JAGUAR GREY resumes last preparation in a 3 year old midweeker when running an impressive fourth behind Silkinize, Drinkwhatyoulike and War Saint. That has turned into exceptional form and the warm up trial was solid. Shaun O’Donnell back riding and riding winners is an added bonus for her. MIMS WIN was scratched from a winnable race at Pinjarra Thursday to save for this. Only run down late last start by a smart filly. LA VINA has trailed well for her return to racing and should position up nicely from the gate. KIRIGAMI should get a lovely run from the gate. Numbers: 10 – 1 – 12 – 11 Suggested Bet – JAGUAR GREY WIN RACE 2 RED ARMY and SUPERIOR SMILE have locked horns in their last two runs over the staying trip in the South West Autumn Cup and Pinjarra Cups. Third up RED ARMY should be able to finally get over the top of Superior Smile in a race with a bit more tempo. Small field, genuinely run race, Pike should be able to get him home. SUPERIOR SMILE has run placings in the Narrogin, Albany, Esperance, Bunbury and Pinjarra Cups this preparation. Wonderful money spinner who is sure to again earn a cheque. WESTERN TEMPLE is on trial at the trip but gets in well after the claim. JUICING CARROTS the logical fourth. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 1 – 6 Suggested Bet – RED ARMY WIN RACE 3 LAST OF THE LINE has to concede 5kg to Kelvin for their last start encounter but he has been so impressive at his two runs and looks on an upward spiral toward open class. From the gate Ryan Hill should have him one out and one back waiting to pounce. He has a very good turn of acceleration and looks like only getting better with racing. Exciting proposition. KELVIN is the testing material with only 58kg after the claim. Noted front running apprentice, expect him to take it up. DIVIDE THE SEA should enjoy a soft run midfield. LYLES CHOICE next best but up sharply in grade. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – LAST OF THE LINE WIN RACE 4 SHES VITAL is a 1000m horse. She needs the pace on and should get that with Michelle Ma Belle, Dew West, Wakan Tanka and Cuballing engaged in the race. Jerry Noske should get her midfield with cover and she gets her chance in an even race. WAR SECRETS resumes first-up no trial. Was scratched on Good Friday and now the bars go on which is an obvious concern. Went through the grades quickly in Kalgoorlie in style. RAPISARDA is going below his best but from three back the fence he can strike late. DEW WEST is a speedy filly who should get across from the gate. Numbers: 6 – 2 – 1 – 8 Suggested Bet – SHES VITAL EACHWAY RACE 5 MERVYN will leave no stone unturned. He will jump and run and again takes serious catching. This is the best field he has ever seen ability wise but all of the resuming horses are suited over further and he is a 1000m horse. No surprise to see Merv upset them. ALPHA SKY should be able to stalk Mervyn’s hot speed and gets his chance early for a new stable. MASSIMO is a serious race horse and is a big beneficiary of the Samizdat withdrawal. Will be chasing a fair way out. GUNS OF NAVARONE and HOBOKEN both going well. Numbers: 5 – 4 – 10 – 8 Suggested Bet – MERVYN EACHWAY RACE 6 LORENTINIO was placed, ridden and rated to absolute perfection last start. This race is a little tougher and he may have to do a little bit of work to come across from the wide gate to either cross or sit outside of Scoreline. Going well and likely to go around eachway. UTGARD LOKI was the target of big backing late last start in the same race where he was lumping 60kg and was $1.01 to sit three and four deep the trip. Was a great effort under the circumstances and looks to get a far better run in transit here. LAUFEY was a seriously good run last start in a far tougher assignment than this. Drops sharply in grade and gets Pike into the saddle. MR KUNAFA is doing nothing wrong and gets the right run for him. Numbers: 2 – 11 – 6 – 3 Suggested Bet – LORENTINIO EACHWAY RACE 7 MOSCHARD was a replay watchers delight first-up. Got well out of his ground in a cracking 78+ race which included Red Can Man, Laverrod, Plutocracy, Little Fish, Floyd and Chix Pic and never got a crack at them when bolting in behind heels. Second-up drops to a 66+, Pike sticks and he can launch late off the back of a hot tempo. LIPSTICK FLICKERS is in grand form but will need an ounce of luck to find a position from the draw. BLACK DUCATI has trialled well for her return and shouldn’t spend a cent in running. MEGAZONE is another who can show a big turn of acceleration off a genuine speed. Numbers: 2 – 7 – 10 – 3 Suggested Bet – MOSCHARD WIN RACE 8 HE’S A PARKER vs SPIRITUAL WARRIOR (Round 3). Spiritual Warrior has got the better of him in the South West Autumn Cup and Pinjarra Cup but there are some significant weight swings. They should land in similar spots over the 2 miles and with 6kg less HE’S A PARKER gets his chance to turn the tables. SPIRITUAL WARRIOR is as genuine a commodity as there is and he will give it his all even with a levelling 61kg over 3200m. LORD FANDANGO is no stranger to the trip having contested the 2018 Sydney Cup. DARK MUSKET doesn’t get in as well as He’s A Parker at the weights but is proven at the trip. Numbers: 7 – 1 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – HE’S A PARKER WIN RACE 9 WATCH ME DANCE really is the obvious in the 2020 Amelia Park WA Sires Produce Stakes. She looks to be screaming out for the trip after running second in the Group 3 Gimcrack Stakes and then nosed out by Ima Single Man when running second in the Group 2 Karrakatta Plate. She was the run of the race outside the winner and from the draw can sit midfield, smothered up and launch late. PRECAUTIONARY never saw daylight in the same race. She is a blowout chance of breaking her maiden in a feature. DOM TO SHOOT was disappointing in the Karrakatta but the draw suits him. NO SURRENDER draws poorly but has ability. Numbers: 5 – 7 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – WATCH ME DANCE WIN RACE 10 OCEAN’S FIFTEEN is yet to miss the money in five career starts and has been big in both runs back from a break. Last start sat off the track throughout when looking the winner, only to be gunned down late by a smart mare in Cryptic Love. She went on to finish second to Celebrity Queen to make the form look even stronger. Gets his chance here. INDIAN CHANT is breathing fire at the minute. Once Mr Peter Fernie’s horses get going they don’t stop. SHE’S ALIGHT will need a miracle from the gate but is in form. WILD FUSION (if gaining a start) will be forgotten by the market. No luck last two. Numbers: 6 – 2 – 13 – 15 Suggested Bet – OCEAN’S FIFTEEN WIN Quaddie (Race 7 – 10) 2,3,6,7,10,13 1,7 5 2,6,11,13,(15) Market Market
