Scott Embry’s Saturday Ascot Preview Posted on March 12, 2020March 16, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview RACE 1 DOM TO SHOOT has been screaming out for another hundred metres and gets it here in this 1200m juvenile event. From the gate he should settle midfield and possess far too strong a finishing burst for moderate opposition. SMASHING was excellent on debut. Didn’t step away cleanly in her trials and was a touch slow at the races. That’s enough over 1000m to get beaten. 1200 suits far better. CHAMPAGNE DIVA should again find the front and she has done nothing wrong in her short career. RECITING finished just behind that pair and looks like improving with distance. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – DOM TO SHOOT WIN RACE 2 SCORELINE is absolutely flying at the minute. Kristy Bennett is riding him to perfection and he simply loves the mile. From the gate he will do no work in the run and carries only 52.5kg. AL DI LA should come across running from the wide gate and Hill will likely look to cross and find the fence. Easterly breeze forecast for Saturday means that he gets his chance to pinch a Saturday. MEDIA BARON drops back in trip out of a luckless run in the Esperance Cup. He is in white hot form but minor query will be the conditions. GREY ENIGMA continues to race outside the handicap but is going very well. Numbers: 6 – 4 – 1 – 8 Suggested Bet – SCORELINE EACHWAY RACE 3 CHIX PIC was held up at crucial stages over 1000m last start when Mervyn was off and gone and the race was over. Once he got out he finished off well and he looks better suited at 1200. Can turn the tables. CAROCAPO had his first career start at 1000m last time out and there was nothing wrong with the effort. He should land a nice position in the run. FLOYD could well end up last in the small field but his two runs this campaign have been nothing short of huge. MERVYN is Mervyn. Just let the little battler run and he’ll always take catching. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – CHIX PIC WIN RACE 4 SHERPA LASS is undefeated after 3 starts and she had to dig deep to get over them last start. Bedouin Belle backed up off 7 days and made the form look even better and this race really isn’t any deeper than her previous victory. Should land another lovely spot in running and continue her undefeated start. CAPTIVATED POINT could find himself in front by default. May get under the guard. BEE QUICK put in a ripper last start. If she can hold the spot inside of Sherpa Lass she’s a live hope. GUESTEEN ended up in an impossible position last start. Forgive the effort, tough filly. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 8 – 7 Suggested Bet – SHERPA LASS WIN RACE 5 TOLLMAN has come back bigger and better this preparation. First-up he lumped 60.5 when holding out Fairedu and beat home subsequent Ascot 1000 Guineas winner Lonsdale Lady and then sat off a hot tempo at Bunbury to score. Up in grade but going very well. DARK CHOICE was a replay watchers’ delight first-up. She was super out of her comfort zone at the sprinting trip and is far better suited here at a mile. UTGARD LOKI has put in two blinders in a row and has his first 7 day back-up for Justin Warwick. YADREAMIN’ has hit a purple patch. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 7 – 9 Suggested Bet – TOLLMAN WIN RACE 6 SOPHIE’S SONG was the target of strong late support over 1400m in a 72+ last start when only getting out late and flashing at Yeah Dardy. Drops back in grade to a 66+ and should be able to slide across from the wide gate to sit outside of He’s A Gunslinger or even find the front. She’s hard to beat from either position. CRYPTIC LOVE was jumping out of the ground behind Regal Counsel. Draws well for the second-up assignment and always looked a 1400m horse. MIRACLE MAN draws to box seat and is particularly well placed after the 3kg claim. FESTIVAL MISS has been finishing off her races well of late. Numbers: 5 – 8 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet – SOPHIE’S SONG WIN RACE 7 TALLADEGA has really burst onto the scene. Won a Narrogin maiden over 1190m only a month ago and now is thrown in the deep end into a Listed 1800m race. Every time he goes to the races he gets better and his win last weekend was dominant. Chris Parnham looks like taking him straight to the top in a race where the main rival is likely last or second last. If he can stick the trip he takes real beating. CRYPTIC WONDER ran out a mile well and really threw the race away by laying inward in the home straight. APACHE PASS was flying in the final 50m but draws tough. KELVIN should only improve off the first-up run at a mile. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – TALLADEGA WIN RACE 8 LONSDALE LADY absolutely destroyed them in the Ascot 1000 Guineas. She looked the winner from the 1000m marker and draws scary similarities to Cockney Crew. Chris Parnham will have her in front and she should again have them chasing a fair way out. NAUGHTY BY NATURE was enormous in the same race. Three deep the trip and sustained a run from a long way out. Big danger. CAMBIST ran the fastest final 1000, 800, 600, 400 and 200m recording some seriously impressive figures. Repeats that performance and goes close. TUSCAN QUEEN never got going first-up or second-up but is she wound up yet? Numbers: 2 – 4 – 6 – 1 Suggested Bet – LONSDALE LADY WIN RACE 9 OCEAN’S FIFTEEN has the speed to come across from the awkward gate and looks to have a stack of natural ability. Was ridden cold in a recent trial but can race over the speed. DEVOTED STAR missed the kick by 6L first-up and all things considered ran an absolute ripper. She will need some luck or a gun ride from Chris Parnham but he could have had a big day by the last. M’LADY couldn’t cross Boyish last start and that was telling in the final 100m. Drops in weight and should find the fence this time. WEINER WALTZ is going particularly well and should enjoy a good run midfield. Numbers: 8 – 10 – 1 – 9 Suggested Bet – OCEAN’S FIFTEEN WIN Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 1,5,7,8 1,3,4 2,4,6 1,8,10 Market Market
