Scott Embry’s Saturday Ascot Preview Posted on February 28, 2019 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 AVIDUS should bounce straight to the front and take full advantage of Mollie Clark’s 3kg claim. Dropping back from a high pressure 1800 into a mile without any real speed it looks perfect for him to lead them all the way. NEW AGE likely stalks him the entire way and she is more than capable of coming off heels and zapping him. PADDY’S SHADOW likely settles a long way off them and hits the line hard. NOT AGAIN KEN showed a little something in his trial. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet – AVIDUS WIN Race 2 SPEEDING COMET found the front for the first time and put in an uncharacteristic below par performance. Drawn middle of the line with an abundance of speed underneath if McNaught can slot in midfield he gets his chance. NIGHT VOYAGE is as consistent and honest as they come. Carries the weight and will march three deep again. Brave. HOBOKEN is going very well this campaign but maps awkwardly. FAERIE WHISPER can’t be discounted if she backs up off 4 days. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 6 – 5 Suggested Bet – SPEEDING COMET EACHWAY Race 3 NEUROLOGICAL brings alternate form to this race but the way he has been accelerating it is hard not to keep tipping him. Likely to settle midfield and if Pike can get cover he can unleash brilliant closing sections. CAPTAIN STIRLING leads them up and has no pressure applied. He will need to get into gear and start rolling before the corner or he will get out sprint again. SNOW LORD tracked is every move and zapped him last start, can do so again here. DAM READY is in a purple patch and the stable always back-up. Numbers: 4 – 7 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – NEUROLOGICAL WIN Race 4 COMING AROUND had no luck in the Challenge Stakes sitting three deep without cover the entire. He should lob into a lovely spot just off the leaders in this race and can wind up over the top of them late. ZETORIO was a huge run in the Pinjarra 3 year old Magic Millions. With any luck he is hard to beat. CHESTEN FLYER backs up off 7 days, drops in class and after the claim is extremely well weighted and placed. LORD LUDLOW is always a places chance in these. Numbers: 7 – 4 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – COMING AROUND WIN Race 5 STAR GLITTER has been going well without flattering so far this campaign. He draws a gate, backs up off 7 days, drops in grade and has one of the State’s best replacing a relatively inexperience apprentice. Worth a throw at the stumps. PRINCESS ZELDA was an impressive winner over a subsequent Saturday winner two starts ago and then didn’t quite stick the 1400m. She’s a big danger. MORE ACES got KO’d last week and can lead and improve out of sight. SANTIAGO GAL was stiff not to win last start. Numbers: 3 – 7 – 1 – 8 Suggested Bet – STAR GLITTER EACHWAY Race 6 ADNORMENT looks like she will simply keep improving with every step out in trip. Bob and Sandra Peters reign supreme in the fillies features year in, year out and this filly looks like she will stay. DARK CHOICE went back to last on debut and ran a nice race. Stepping up in trip should be right up her alley on breeding. SPEEDY MISS was finishing off very nicely from a long way back in the Challenge. ASSETRO was big in the same race when making a sustained run. Numbers: 5 – 9 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – ADORNMENT WIN Race 7 REGAL POWER probably should have won the Challenge Stakes. He found trouble at crucial stages through no fault of the jockey and then picked himself up to run an eye catching second. Pike has the luxury of jumping aboard and he should go very close. SLICED BREAD likely sits leader’s back and his run was encouraging fresh. CREATIVE HERO has done nothing wrong but was there to be beaten last start. BLACKWOOD RIVER has flopped twice this prep but can lead this and improve sharply. Numbers: 6 – 3 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – REGAL POWER WIN Race 8 FREO is first-up without a trial and has to lump around 61.5kg but this race looks a suitable assignment for him. Fast run races are his go and he should be coming hard late. WESTERN TEMPLE doesn’t seem to enjoy Pinjarra Park. Forgive his last start run and he goes close. FRIARESQUE was enormous at his Lindsey Smith debut and Smith on only enhances his winning chances. MIZLECKI was an eye catching run fresh but will need to be good from nearly last. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 8 – 3 Suggested Bet – FREO WIN Quad (Race 5 – 8) 1,3,6,7,8 1,4,5,9 3,6 1,2,3,8 Market Market
