Scott Embry’s Saturday Ascot Preview Posted on December 6, 2018December 10, 2018 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 FIRE AND RAIN comes out of a very strong edition of the Placid Ark stakes where he sat in the breeze and was left for dead when Dance Music hit the trigger. Should end up 1×1 or even in the breeze and back to 1000m should help. MARKET RULER was thrown in the deep end earlier in the preparation. Very hard to beat here fresh. CLASSY LASSY could not have been more impressive at Bunbury but this is a different ball game. LORD GREYSTOKE somewhat holds the key to how the race will be run. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – FIRE AND RAIN WIN Race 2 M’LADY looks like she is a 1000m horse. Was backed as if unbeatable last start and put up the white flag at the 200m marker. Back to her pet distance and drawn to lead should be there for a long way. DANNY GEORGE has not been knocked around at trials and he was a big fresh winner last preparation. Gets well off them but charges late. SHACKLETON has won 2 career races from leader’s back and should get to that exact spot here. BON VOYAGE should get a suitable run off the speed to figure in the finish. Numbers: 6 – 2 – 9 – 5 Suggested Bet – M’LADY EACHWAY Race 3 CANDLELIGHT STAR is nearly impossible to catch at times but he looks to be in good enough form to bounce back to the winner’s circle. This race has almost 9 legitimate winning chances. Very tough. RIVER DANCE first-up, no trial, drawn awkwardly but has shown he is classy. SWEET ORA could be a blow out with shades on, senior rider back on and drawn to sit midfield. MOLTEN won a trial well and could come across and park in the breeze. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 5 – 9 Suggested Bet – CANDLELIGHT STAR EACHWAY Race 4 NELSON’S FLIGHT is a 72+ winner in a 66+ and if Lucy Warwick can slot him in behind the likes of Rising Sea and Moet De Vega he should be very hard to hold out. Drops out of a G3 Peters where he was far from disgraced. MOET DE VEGA looked home every except the final stride. He leads or box seats and goes close again. ROYAL STATUE charged home to nail Moet De Vega last start and holds an imposing winning strike rate. WATCH ME NEY NEY an improver with a better barrier draw. Numbers: 2 – 8 – 4 – 9 Suggested Bet – NELSON’S FLIGHT EACHWAY Race 5 THE VELVET KING was a big winner of the Fairetha first-up at 1400m and then came across from a horror draw in the Guineas where he was well beaten. This race is far easier and back to 1400m he looks likely to lead them and walk. SHAPITA ran fourth in a super strong Burgess Queen at this trip two starts ago. FESTIVAL MISS has been savaging the line over the short course. Step up in trip looks ideal for her. CUP NIGHT is another in a similar vein, charging late over 1200m and steps up in trip. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 8 – 4 Suggested Bet – THE VELVET KING WIN Race 6 CELEBRITY DREAM looks to have this race at her mercy. She made solid ground on a day where the leaders were dominating and gets 1.5kg and an extra furlong on Misty Metal, who is a query at the trip. She should only get better throughout this mares series. FONTAINEBLEAU has blinkers on, Smith on and draws gate 1 to sit in the box seat. ROYAL MISSILE will likely close a big price for a mare who can reel off a booming final section. PEARLS AND PRAWNS did it very tough in the Jungle Mist. Barrier draw means she should settle 1×1. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 5 – 9 Suggested Bet – CELEBRITY DREAM WIN Race 7 ACTION finally gets out to a staying trip and this is probably his most winnable assignment of the preparation to date. Was big fresh at 1400m and then super impressive when running second to Galaxy Star. Disappointing in a slowly run Peters and then in a different postcode in the Railway. Should bounce back here. CAPPO D’ORO looks the logical leader in a race which will be run below average tempo. MISSISSIPPI DELTA put on a galloping exhibition in the Tatts and there is no reason why she can’t win again. ELEGANT BLAST an improver drawn more favorably. Numbers: 2 – 6 – 5 – 9 Suggested Bet – ACTION WIN Race 8 ARCADIA QUEEN ticks almost every box in this race. Has the tactical gate speed to take up a position midfield with cover one off the fence and then has shown she can settle in the run and reel off exceptional late sections. Gets in with only 50kg at WFA and this is a 3 year olds race. MATERIAL MAN was enormous in the Railway. First-up, top weight and left a sitting duck when the leaders were gone at the top of the straight. Big danger. GALAXY STAR will be spotting them a big head start and interesting to see where Parnham takes her. Inside or outside. GATTING is quality. He will run another big race from the soft draw. Numbers: 15 – 2 – 12 – 4 Suggested Bet – ARCADIA QUEEN WIN Race 9 LIKE A BUTTERFLY was too bad to be true last start. Possibly unsuited chasing so far from home in a race where Salorsci broke them open. Big mare who may be better left to wind up. Blinkers on, Oliver on, going to forgive and butter up. MIRACLE MAN has hit form but draws a gate where he could spot the leaders a fair start. TAXAGANO ran a big race two starts ago in the Peters and should get the run of the race from the draw. ASTRONOMITE lobs straight into the box seat and should be in the finish. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – LIKE A BUTTERFLY EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 1,2,3,4,5,9 2,5,6 2,12,15 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 Market Market
