Scott Embry’s Friday Narrogin Preview Posted on January 6, 2021January 6, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 RIP AND SNIP ran third two starts ago this track and distance behind King Cabernet and Bryce Road. Wasn’t a lot between them that day but with the slight weight pull we’ll side with Spud Galati and Rip and Snip to break through in a thin maiden. BRYCE ROAD has to concede weight with the senior rider going on but looks the biggest danger. RAGTIME BAND wasn’t bad last start. Should be going close. RED INK is going well and is better suited in handicap conditions. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – RIP AND SNIP WIN RACE 2 HINDSIGHT BIAS clearly has some issues having been nominated, accepted and scratched on four different occasions in a career spanning only 8 months. Darren McAullife is a strike rate trainer and he wouldn’t be taking him to the races unless he was ready to go. SWEET DEMAND had things go wrong on debut. Showed ability at trials and should get the sweetest of runs from the draw. Big danger. INN SESSION finished a fair way off them at trials recently but wasn’t really asked for an effort. Race form is strong. CENTENARY ROAD makes his debut as a 5 year old but strikes a weak race. Numbers: 2 – 6 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet – HINDSIGHT BIAS WIN RACE 3 BOYISH put on a clinic last start. Goes up 3kg and now has 61.5kg to contend with but simply loves the tight corners of Narrogin and Simone Altieri will have him rolling a fair way from home. SHESAPOCKET ROCKET has strong Albany and Barker form to her name and from the gate gets a gun run just in behind them. Slight weight relief with Ramoly going on and she looks well placed. SNIPILLICIOUS will come out running. Starting to put it all together and can go on with it. CLEVES WATCHING ran well first-up but was no match for Boyish. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – BOYISH WIN RACE 4 STIRLING ESTATE is having his 35th run of the preparation (no typo) but continues to race brilliantly. His last start was 7 points outside the handicap in a 66+ when getting within 3L of Leica Jaguar, Mood Swings, Forest War and Mums My Hero, beating home Shinju and subsequent Saturday winner Night Voyage. Brilliantly placed back in grade and will give a big sight from the draw. UNDER THE RADAR rolled back to the inside last start on a day where you needed to be out wide. ORANGE STRUDEL is kept fresh and after the claim looks well in. REACTION continues to run the exact same race and it’s good enough to put him in the finish. Numbers: 2 – 7 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – STIRLING ESTATE WIN RACE 5 LUCY DA GREY has her first start for the Darren Taylor stable. Was beaten 8.4L in a recent trial but wouldn’t read too much into that. Her form when last in work is easily good enough to win this. Fourth behind Bolshoi Gal, Nurhaci and Warzachantz before running fifth behind Brave Contender and Cornflower. Gets back and has weight so will need eachway but she looks to have the most upside. MASSA MAC is well suited to this grade. Rises 6kg on last start but does fall into a far more winnable race. DOLLY EM is racing a touch below her best. If Beaux Edwards can cross to the top she’ll prove hard to run down. NOBLE SPIRIT might sneak under the radar. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 6 – 2 Suggested Bet – LUCY DA GREY EACHWAY RACE 6 AWESOME AS looks really well placed by Brendon Fitzgerald. Fourth behind Peppijack, Beret and Roman Flirt two starts ago. Peppijack is now a $100k Manduarh Cup winner and Awesome As is dropping back into a weak staying race at Narrogin. Solid effort last start when tracking the speed and after the claim of Carleen Hefel looks the one. BEST SUSPECT has mixed form since joining Jayce Buckley but this is by far the most winnable race that she has seen. Big danger. KING CABERNET was a sharp improver when leading last start. Expecting similar tactics. DESIGNER PRINCE next best. Numbers: 2 – 7 – 9 – 6 Suggested Bet – AWESOME AS WIN RACE 7 ARMED AND READY looks Mark Bairstow’s best chance of snagging a winner in what has been a lean and frustrating run for the stable. The 1900 at Narrogin is perfect for him, he draws a gate to settle midfield with cover, Jason Whiting rides the track particularly well and his overall form is excellent compared to rivals. Hopefully he can be the change of luck. LEXDEN GAMBLER was beaten a long way last start but prior to that was building toward a win. AHYOKA FROST always races without luck. 43 days between runs, 1900m, few queries. LIGHT IN THE BLACK might need to roll forward from the tough draw.
