Scott Embry’s Friday Mount Barker Preview Posted on February 25, 2021February 25, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 COPPING POINTS was given a soft trial by Peter Hall recently and looked to be working home nicely late in the piece. Drawn an awkward gate on debut but expecting a bold showing. Clearly a watch on the market. ROYAL WHISPER was also building nicely into the trial under no riding from Chris Nicoll. CYCLONICAL looked handy when winning that same 1000m Albany trial recently. A lot of the raced brigade have well exposed and moderate form to their name. Drawn a nice gate and looks to have some speed. MUMSTHEONE has been around a long time but since joining Darryn Pateman has been going well. Numbers: 5 – 4 – 11 – 2 Suggested Bet – COPPING POINTS WIN RACE 2 FREEDOMOFTHEPRESS heads down to Albany after three encouraging runs in the metro and provincial area. Jason Whiting picks up the ride, drawn a nice alley and has versatility. Can settle on or off pace and this is a fairly weak line-up. ZEEWIJK is the obvious danger. Had his first start for Steve Wolfe and was stiff to run into the likes of Dark Assault and Ginger Green. MY NAMES STAR has been a long time maiden who is never far from the winner. TAKE ME THERE an improver back in trip with the shades on. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 5 – 7 Suggested Bet – FREEDOMOFTHEPRESS WIN RACE 3 BLAZING TYCOON looks well placed by Brock Lewthwaite. Brock tends to take his provincial horses to C70 grade with great success and this looks another who can add to that record. Drawn a far better gate than last start when doing it tough and this looks winnable for him. POTENT SECRET is still going great guns as a 10 year old and chased hard behind stablemate Read the Riot Act last time out. SONG OF VINCENT hasn’t been seen for a long while but his best is good enough. CANDLELIGHT STAR is hard to catch but going alright. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – BLAZING TYCOON WIN RACE 4 AYASHA gets her chance to find the top and win another race. She seems to go lengths better when she can battle away close handy to the speed, especially in races run slower than average. That looks the case here and she might even be able to cross down to the fence and get it cheap. THE ITALIAN JOB was well supported first-up and gave absolutely nothing. He is better than that (you’d hope). With the shades on will Snaggers fire up the Q and let him sizzle? (ok I’m done now). HIGHFRIAR and STARAUTHORESS are going well and they both are drawn gates to be afforded every chance. Numbers: 6 – 1 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet – AYASHA EACHWAY RACE 5 IT COMES NATURAL is never far from the action and hailing from Paul Roberts yard you can be assured you’ll get an eachway sighter out of him. Drawn outside a fair few mid/back markers so he should get across no worries and park just behind the speed. Looks a winnable race for him. BOYISH was truck loaded in a Saturday 60+ Graduation when appearing on paper to be an 1100m provincial type in a handy 60+ metro line-up. This is a much better race for him and he reunites with regular rider Simone Altieri. WIENER WALTZ is particularly well placed into a C58+ and should find himself in an ideal position. DOUBLE JEOPARDY has no excuses from the inside. Numbers: 4 – 6 – 8 – 1 Suggested Bet – IT COMES NATURAL EACHWAY RACE 6 FEELS HOT has improved sharply since the shades went on. Three starts ago was a tough watch when bolting in behind them, two starts ago the shades went on and he ran them ragged leading throughout (beating stablemate Dancing Jack) and then proved he was up to this class when flashing late behind Kazkazi. If he sticks the trip, he’s hard to beat. ART ADMIRER and COCKY ED come from the same staying race at Esperance and that should hold up as a form reference for this. Both going well. MISSSALFIE is knocking on the door but has tough gate to navigate. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – FEELS HOT WIN RACE 7 WESTERN KING was a massive improver last start. Prior to that had been battling away in moderate midfield efforts but looked more like his old self when winning impressively. If he can hold form then this race is no tougher than what he won last time out. COSTA LANTE has been going super since resuming. Drawn 1, gets back and Barker is tough course to ride. Few red flags. TORU WAIMARIE has been in form all season and is never far away in this grade. SCREAM IN BLUE is better than what she produced last start. Numbers: 3 – 6 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – WESTERN KING WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,4,6,7,8 1,2,3,4,5,6,8,10 1,3,5 1,2,3,5,6,7 Market Market
