Scott Embry’s Friday Geraldton Preview Posted on January 23, 2025January 23, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 LE BEAU was solid last start at Albany. Sat up in the breeze, did all the work and was still there with 100m to go. Soft draw, Tash Faithfull sticks, should be going close. FIRE THE GUARD was ridden cold from a wide barrier last start and attacked the line in typical Fire The Guard fashion. Just can’t find the right race. DIXIE PRINCESS likely leads and surely pinches one eventually. DISCUSS ran a few cheeky races earlier in the season. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 6 – 8 Suggested Bet – LE BEAU WIN RACE 2 MEXICAN QUEEN was only gobbled up late last start over 1600m. No doubt connections would have preferred if this was a mile again, but in a thin race Alex Hearn can ride her aggressively and get them chasing from a long way out. ROCKIN’ ROBIN finished third in a 2 year old 0MWLY behind Coondle at Bunbury but hasn’t fired a shot since. ARTERRE just gets a long way back in his races and from the wide draw this will be no different. KEGGS LATER is first-up, no trial but Ash Maley’s are flying. Numbers: 8 – 4 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – MEXICAN QUEEN WIN RACE 3 LIVE LUCKY was backed as if unbeatable when breaking her maiden. Since then she’s finished second to On The Mark in a fast run C2 and jumped favourite in a 58+. Back to C1 company, much better race for her. LUCKEE FLORAN has really attacked the line at his last two outings and that Choixway / On The Mark form should be holding up. He sneaks back into a C1 from a C2. AND THEN WHAT won well on debut at Carnarvon. FUZZYBOX broker her maiden nicely at odds. Numbers: 8 – 5 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – LIVE LUCKY WIN RACE 4 FORBIDDEN APPLE has a lot of raw talent. She won a 58+ 1618 only four starts ago and then most recently was nearly 2 months between runs and dropping from 1800m back to 1200m yet still caught the eye into third. This looks an ideal set up for her on paper. I’M ON has been a little frustrating after showing a lot of promise fresh. Hasn’t drawn that well ever since and this is another classic example of that. SPECIAL PLAN has won back to back races but this is harder. AMARLIE MISS nearly won a C3 at Bunbury last July. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet – FORBIDDEN APPLE WIN RACE 5 BONNIE LAD has been impressing in town recently. He was only 2L off subsequent winner All Play in a 66+, he was only 3L off sharp 3 year old Horcrux in a 60+ Graduation and now finds himself in a c70+ and is racing like 1200m won’t worry him. Looks a nice race for him provided they can make ground. SAUVEGARDE was far too good for them last start and only rises 1.5kg for a dominant win from the breeze. PRINCE RAGNAR seems to prefer 1100. PATCHWORK just doesn’t run bad races. Numbers: 2 – 6 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – BONNIE LAD WIN RACE 6 MOCHA DREAM has always been a hard horse to beat in the country area. Went around last start at Albany and gave returning rider Taj Dyson his first winner and hopefully by this stage ZJP is on the board in his return, if not, this galloper looks ideally placed to get the job done. Loves Geraldton, proven weight carrier, proven in the grade. STEVIE’S MAY is off 50 days but did beat On The Mark two back. Big respect. SAFE HUSTLE ran minor placings in back to back 70+ outings recently. Respect. JUSTHANDY is going super. Numbers: 1 – 8 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – MOCHA DREAM WIN RACE 7 JURUENA GOLD has really turned a corner this season. He’s racing with much more consistency and much more heart than previous campaigns and he should be ready now to run out a strong 1900m. If Madi Derrick found the top that would probably only enhance his chances. CHEYNE BAY is a 3 year old taking on the older horses and looks to have become quite dour this prep. KAZKAZI won at Narrogin and then held his own in a Westspeed Platinum last start. TRADED CROWN lapped them last start. Numbers: 2 – 8 – 7 – 10 Suggested Bet – JURUENA GOLD WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,5,6 2,4,6 1,8 2,7,8,10 Market Market
