Scott Embry’s Friday Carnarvon Preview Posted on June 27, 2019 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 PATRONISM jumped well and then didn’t cross to the fence when pulling first-up. Travelled well on the dirt which is a huge indication that he will be winning races. Should bounce to the front here and be hard to run down. LADY VITAL has her first start for the Jane Hossell yard. Previous form definitely strong enough to win this. CARSON DRIVE will keep coming and looks like improving out in trip. MIXED GRILL was well supported earlier in the season and finished off well in that race. Numbers: 6 – 12 – 7 – 4 Suggested Bet – PATRONISM WIN Race 2 BROTHER RAND won well last start and ran over a length faster than average. Should hold form and looks hard to beat. VITAL BOOM has been building towards another win and each run has improved on the dirt. Should be forward of midfield and gets her chance. BOBCAT BOY has hit a purple patch of form on the outer country circuit and draws soft. THERE AT FIVE should a profitable acquisition for the Bamford yard. Numbers: 3 – 7 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – BROTHER RAND WIN Race 3 MEGAMIND is better drawn in 2 than he was in 1 when the races were abandoned on Sunday. He is not brilliantly away but if he can muster and then find the front or sit just off the speed he’ll be hard to run down. BALMONT STUNNER has been eye catching his last few and looks well placed to break through. Big danger. REGAL HONOUR is a veteran of dirt racing and can give cheek. PROUD HISTORY ran a much-improved race last start. Numbers: 3 – 4 – 7 – 6 Suggested Bet – MEGAMIND WIN Race 4 BEHROOZ is doing exactly what Woomera did in Carnarvon last season. Jumping, running and leaving rivals in the dust. Barrier 1 is always a bit of a risk draw in case of being slightly slow away but if he finds the front again, he wins. GRECO back to 1000m has his first start on the dirt. At one stage was a very consistent metro type and should be winning races. CALAMARI SAFARI has the early toe to test Behrooz. Interesting to see them go toe to toe. NEWMARRACARRA is consist and will be there abouts. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – BEHROOZ WIN Race 5 ARGOON was beaten fair and square first-up but at his second attempt on the dirt and after the claim for an emerging apprentice rider he looks hard to beat here. FAMILY CONNECTION won a weak maiden in style last start. Reproduces that run and will be in the finish. SPIRITED ACTION has shown glimpses in his career but was beaten out of sight last start on the dirt. PREMIO MOMENTO is limited but will be right over the speed and there a long way. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 12 – 3 Suggested Bet – ARGOON WIN Race 6 RUN FOR A REASON is a tried and tested proven Carnarvon commodity. Won well in a 64+ two starts ago and drops back into a 56+ here. Does best work when working three and four deep into the corner and Southam is likely to park him out there. Should be too strong. SOUTHERN WARRIOR won a relatively strong C5 in Esperance last preparation. Overall form very good but three runs in Broome on the dirt all beaten over 5L concerns. PORTRAIT LAO is yet to show his best but improved sharply last start. GERSHOM drops in grade and will be in the finish if he can run the 1400m. Numbers: 5 – 2 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – RUN FOR A REASON WIN Quad (Race 3 – 6) 3,4 1 1 1,2,4,5 Market Market
