Scott Embry’s Easter Monday York Preview Posted on March 29, 2024March 29, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 OLIVIASMEMUMMA put in her best run of her career last start down the 1000m straight behind Just Saint James, Pin Deep (subsequent winner) and Riseanfall (races Friday at Ascot). Could have just been a flash in the pan run but Laqdar Ramoly rides York well and these maiden handicaps are not strong races. HOTLIPS LIL is no stranger to maiden handicap racing and she went close last start. LONG WAIT resumed first-up no trial off 168 days at York last start when finished 2.2L off the winner. Exact same profile here off 197 days without a trial. ROYALE MUCK UP is accepted Albany Sunday and York Monday. If he starts here respect. Numbers: 8 – 9 – 7 – 10 Suggested Bet – OLIVIASMEMUMMA WIN RACE 2 DON’T TELL NAN has had a following since she made her debut as 2 year old back in June 2023. Always been a big expectation placed on her shoulders and this looks the perfect chance for her to finally break through. Ran second behind Good Vibes in an 1190m maiden handicap at Narrogin last start and can go one better here. Most winnable race she’s seen yet. SPEARFISH is 39 days between runs but has an inside draw and the minor placings at Barker and Albany had merit. MARTOS COB is first-up no trial and there has been sprinklings of money at huge odds for him in two career runs. Yet to fire though. MAKE MINE SUPER an improver. Numbers: 11 – 10 – 3 – 8 Suggested Bet – DON’T TELL NAN WIN RACE 3 ZENIQUE gets one more chance returning to a lowly maiden handicap over 1920m. Raced in a 2 & 3 year old 0MWLY last start behind Bondi’s Future and Another Strike who both race on Saturday at Ascot in a 60+ Graduation and are likely favourite and second favourite in that event. Rolls to the top and if he can see out the trip he’ll be hard to get past. WHAIRIRI is a 48 start maiden but looms as one of the biggest dangers. Don’t mind the way she’s going. ZAMBEEZEE GOLD put in her best run last start but it was 28 days ago and she’s now up 420m. WHOD A THOUGHT IT next best. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 6 – 10 Suggested Bet – ZENIQUE WIN RACE 4 MONEY FOR OLD ROPE ran second in a 46+ 1900 at York behind Do It Right beating home Strawberry Mist in the process with 61.5kg before heading to Narrogin last start. Wasn’t too bad and after the ZJP claim looks to have found a suitable assignment. MISTER POPCORN broke his maiden over 2200m when 63 days between runs and then two starts later finished third in a 72+ York Cup behind Toni’s Spirit and Ghobella. Wouldn’t discount him even with the big weight. STRAWBERRY MIST has shades added re-applied and is always there abouts. LA CARTIER has been going well for the new yard. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 6 – 5 Suggested Bet – MONEY FOR OLD ROPE WIN RACE 5 PRETTY DIVINE going to pick up one of these 46+ races in the near future. She showed at Belmont in September 2023 that she’ll get the trip having run third over 1400m and thought she did a good job chasing the hot tempo set by Janny last start at Narrogin. This race has far less tempo and she should be able to park up over the speed and go close. DIGITAL MISS has been popular in betting in decent outings and hasn’t been disgraced. Could lead them here. SPIRITSON and TRISUEM are both going a bit better than numerical form suggests, however, both have really tricky draws to navigate. Numbers: 3 – 4 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – PRETTY DIVINE WIN RACE 6 BIGDAYONIT is aggressively placed by Ash Maley and I love it. He’s dropping out of the Batavia Sprint (72+) into a C5 Heat of the Sky Racing Provincial Series. Gets 64.5kg but after the claim of emerging apprentice Chanel Cooper he only carries 61.5kg. He’s an on speed type who should be able to lump the weight and give a big sight on speed. BARTIME is a bit hit and miss from time to time but his best is good enough to give this a shake. STAR SOPRANO is jump and run and goes well fresh. IMPOSING BROOK continues to go well this campaign. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – BIGDAYONIT WIN RACE 7 MY BABY BLUE JEAN went around in a 60+ 1200 at Pinjarra last Sunday and skipped clear on straightening before being swamped over the concluding stages by Simple Logic, Shaka Zulu and Defending. Back in grade sharply, back 100m importantly and while 60kg is an ask she should be in a prominent position throughout. Nice race for her. CRUISE TO VICTORY is more than capable on his day and Jarrad Noske heads to York on a Monday. MAKE YOUR POINT put in a ripper four back at his first outing for Tommy Wolfe. RISING COMMODITY has shown a liking for York and those types are worth following. Numbers: 4 – 6 – 9 – 11 Suggested Bet – MY BABY BLUE JEAN WIN RACE 8 LUCKY HEART was too good for them last start at Narrogin over 1720m. Coming back in trip probably isn’t ideal but he’s well suited to this grade of racing and he actually drops 1kg in weight from his last start victory. May need to be put into the race and turn it into a staying test to out grind them. ABBOU ran a really good race two back and from the inside draw should get every chance. MANITOBA can improve dropping back into a 52+ at York. JOLLY LACE is always there abouts at this level. Went close in the Rose of York last start. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 8 – 10 Suggested Bet – LUCKY HEART WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 3,4 1,6 4,6,9,11 1,4,8,10,12 Market Market
