Deane’s Saturday Sandown Best Bets Posted on December 23, 2016December 27, 2016 | Posted by Deane Lester Deane Lester’s Preview RACE 2 NO. 1 INVINCIBLE AL INVINCIBLE AL has returned to racing in terrific form and looks a strong winning chance again when he contests the 3YO Benchmark 70 Handicap (1000m). The Patrick Payne trained galloper scored a good win over 1000 metres at Pakenham on December 3 before a solid second behind KHAKI over 1200 metres at Flemington on December 10. The spacious Sandown Hillside track looks ideal for his style of racing and INVINCIBLE AL is sure to run well again. RACE 5 NO. 1 BURNING FRONT Recent racing has brought reliable galloper BURNING FRONT to peak fitness and he looks the standout bet of the day when he contests the Summer Championships Heat 4 (1400m). The five year old took a couple of runs to hit his straps but indicated that he is close to winning form again when a brave second behind GRANDE ROSSO in the Super Vobis Gold Bullion (1400m) at Pakenham on December 3. This looks a slightly easier race and he gets the benefit of Jye McNeil’s 1.5kg claim. He is finished 1st or 2nd at 21 of his 39 starts and is well placed to improve his winning strike rate here. SuperPick - RACE 5 NO. 1 BURNING FRONT - Money Back – Run 2nd RACE 6 NO. 6 REWARDING EFFORT REWARDING EFFORT is a talented horse that is starting to fulfil his promise and looks the one to beat again when he contests the Benchmark 78 Handicap (1600m). The four year old ran a creditable race when 6th behind GRANDE ROSSO in the Super Vobis Gold Bullion (1400m) at Pakenham on December 3. He appreciated a big class drop when winning in fast time over 1600 metres at Mornington on December 14. This looks a very suitable progression and REWARDING EFFORT should prove hard to beat again.
