Deane’s Moonee Valley Best Bets Posted on December 22, 2017 | Posted by Deane Lester Deane Lester’s Preview RACE 2 NO. 10 PLEASURING Lightly raced filly PLEASURING can break through for her first win in fine style when she contests the 3YO Fillies Benchmark 70 Handicap (1500m). The Darren Weir trained filly has powered home for good placings at her past two runs in maiden class and will appreciate stepping up in distance. She was scratched from a much easier race at Sandown on Wednesday in preference for this race which should provide a good lead to her prospects in this race. It’s an even field but PLEASURING looks to have more improvement than her rivals and appeals as a great winning chance. RACE 3 NO. 12 MACATTACK Handy mare MACATTACK should be fitter for two runs this campaign and looks well graded when she runs in the Benchmark 64 Handicap (1500m). The four year old resumed with a solid third in BM 70 class over 1300 metres at Sandown on November 22 before a close-up 4th in 78 grade over 1400 metres at Pakenham on December 9. She will appreciate stepping up to a slightly longer trip whilst dropping in class. Ben Allen retains the ride for the Archie Alexander stable and MACATTACK looks one of the better each way bets of the day. RACE 7 NO. 2 MURAAHIB Smart three year old MURAAHIB looks the best bet of the day when he takes his place in the VOBIS Gold Carat (1200m). The Hayes/ Dabernig galloper has been gelded since his last preparation and showed that he is primed for a strong first-up run with an excellent trial at Werribee on December 11. At his first-up run last campaign, he came from well back to finish 3rd behind subsequent Coolmore Stud Stakes winner MERCHANT NAVY which is an irresistible formline for this class of race. He is drawn for a cheap run and only needs reasonable luck to record his third career victory.
