Matt Young’s Tuesday Gloucester Park Preview

Race 1

ALTA FREEWAY (1) has the form on the board and the good draw, has good early speed and will need it with TANTABIDDI (4) in the race but if he can hold up, on his current form he will be the one to beat. ROX THE WORLD (8) is versatile and will be hoping for some early burn, can be driven according to the speed and looks a significant player. TANTABIDDI (4) was nice on return, go very close if he could cross but on his first up run, he would be considered a decent chance from a forward position. GREATGREAT BOULDER (9) hasn’t been on his best behaviour recently, but he can play a part from a rearward spot in this race, keep him safe in your thoughts. SMOKEYS SHADOW (5) is a novelty chance.

Suggested Bet: ALTA FREEWAY (1) to win.

Race 2

AUTUMN LADY (2) has shown good promise in trials and looks well placed on debut, there are obvious concerns coming to a foreign track on debut, but she looks talented, happy to be with her. SHECANPLAY (5) is improving nicely and could be handy to them, respect her as a major player in this. ULTIMATE EVENT (1) is improving with her gate speed; she will be hard to run down if she can hold the lead. MISS VINCENZA (9) will run on from back in the field. AMERICAN TYPHOON (3), GRACEFUL SHARK (6) and ELVIRA JANE (11) all can be included into your first 4’s

Suggested Bet: AUTUMN LADY (2) to win.

Race 3

XCITE ME (3) trialled up nicely for this and has some early speed, thought the lead could be on offer and make this horse quite hard to beat on WA debut. GET YA BETS ON (6) and ALFREDI (7) are both racing well and can-do work in their races and finish it off, both could be handy in the run. SPORTING GRACE (1) has a nice draw and early speed; think they may elect to sit at the middle distance and that elevates her chances to finish in the money. TROIS FONTAINE (8) has come back well but the draw makes tonight quite difficult. VALHALLA MISS (12) and JOHNNY LOMBO (11) novelty chances from their respective draws.

Suggested Bet: XCITE ME (3) to win.

Race 4

ACUTO (1) is a dead set front runner, and he has the perfect draw to lead and to show his best, has been racing against strong fields from awkward draws and gets a great opportunity here, hard to get past. BET ON THE RIVER (10) will get the perfect run and can be dangerous if the speed suits. KINGSEAT (2) could be the provider of speed in the race, he is third since having a freshen up and likes to roll along in his races, could be parked up controlling the tempo. MANHATTAN MOON (3) is a novelty chance as he will settle close enough to the leaders. RELLIM (7) and IM LORD LOGAN (8) both have good closing speed and are likely the run on horses in the races, but it can be difficult from back in the field.

Suggested Bet: ACUTO (1) to win.

Race 5

HER PRESENCE (1) trialled up soundly for her return and comes up with the perfect barrier draw, looks very hard to beat here but is a good things price. RAJAH ROCKS (12) might appreciate this role a bit more, he has been the hunted as of late and tonight he can be driven as the hunter and he has proven his versatility before, expect him to be in the money. KEAYANG JIGSAW (10) is ideally drawn, looks a likely improver again when on the peg line and can feature in the money. STRIKE MASTER (5) has an awkward draw to work with but can-do work in his races if needed, novelty hope with BLUE BLAZER (3), LENORA JANE (8) and TOMMY PRICE (9) but the latter two have horror draws to work with.

Suggested Bet: KEAYANG JIGSAW (10) to place.

Race 6

Open race. STRAUNYS SISTER (2) was a solid effort last time out and was only grabbed in the concluding stages, has some early speed and can work to the top here, if she leads, I think she will be very hard to run down. ZUEDE (5) is going around at a silly price, he is worth a ticket each way as he is very much up to this grade, just needs some luck in the run. SUNPATRA (8) won well last start and prior run was solid, not an easy draw to overcome but can feature. SWEETDREAM TRUNKEY (3) could try and hold a forward position, and the last run was strong, this grade suits again to be driven in a similar manner. IDEALINCIDER (4) needs luck from the draw but is racing better than numerical form suggests. SONIC SEELSTER (7) should be put into your quaddie’s as if he can cross at the start, he will be hard to beat. BIG BOZZ (11) and JILLIBY JAKE (12) both need things to go their way. Tough old race.

Suggested Bet: STRAUNYS SISTER (2) each way.

Race 7 

PINJARRA ROCKS (2) gets the good draw, and we know has the gate speed to lead, what I like about him a bit tonight is that he won’t have to burn to lead, he should just roll there and be in control which will keep him settled, looks hard to get past. BASINGHALL (8) was solid from a wide draw last time out and looks a major player in this, continues to improve nicely. PRINCE OF TRIBECA (6) appears to be better suited here, he won’t be charging to try and lead and the smaller field will suit his high speed, novelty chance. POPPYS LAST DANCE (3), AZIONE (4) and SEMINOLE JUNIOR (5) look next best for a novelty point of view.

Tips: 2 8 6 5

Suggested Bet: PINJARRA ROCKS (2) to win.

Race 8

OUR SWEET POPPY (5) is a nice type of horse, has shown promise throughout her trials and did things wrong in her only race start, the ability is there and if she does it all right tonight, I think she will win. DIAMOND BAY (2) is nicely drawn and looks a strong player in this, is nearing a win. CARA DIANA (3) improved last run and can run into the money here but more difficult to suggest with it being pay 1-2 now. ZIGGY VERMEER (9) next best for mine.

Tips: 5 2 3 9

Suggested Bet: OUR SWEET POPPY (5) to win.
