Matt Young’s Tuesday Gloucester Park Preview Posted on May 21, 2024May 21, 2024 | Posted by Matt Young Race 1 HOLY HECKA (1) returns and has above average ability, he has plenty of speed and looks to have found a suitable race to get the job done on return. THE BEAUDSTER (2) has returned well and will get the run of the race, looks a safe novelty prospect. Stablemate GULLY GUM (4) was outstanding in his return win, he will have to be just as good again but can run a big race. HEEZ GOOD AS GOLD (3) won’t be far away and can run into the novelties. SWAGGER MAN (5) was better last run but draw is against him. Tips: 1 2 4 3 Suggested Bet: THE BEAUDSTER (2) to place. Race 2 OUR LADY JEN (1) is ideally drawn from the pole and gets a wonderful opportunity, looks the leader with her early speed and should be winning. COURAGE OF LOMBO (10) is ideally drawn also following out the favourite, she sits on speed well and looks a fantastic place prospect. SEAGRASS (2) will be fitter and was solid on return, keep safe. ICY WINDS (6) will be running on well, she has returned strongly, place hope. CATCH THE RED EYE (7) is with a new stable and should be kept safe, at her best she has talent but looks tricky from the draw. Tips: 1 10 2 6 Suggested Bet: COURAGE OF LOMBO (10) to place. Race 3 CODENAME MARCUS (9) has really turned a corner in his preparation with his last 3 being strong and consistent with improvement in each, he has to overcome a wide draw but he is getting back to his absolute best and that is good enough to win this from anywhere. COLD HARD CASH (12) is fitter after a first up win, he is speedy and will be running on well. RAKERO RAIDER (11) sustained a long run last time out and should be respected here as a novelty prospect. STAR OF WILLOUGHBY (10) needs some luck but can run into the novelties from the soft draw. Tips: 9 12 11 10 Suggested Bet: CODENAME MARCUS (9) to win. Race 4 SKYLORD (9) is a classy customer who looks the winner on paper, he is dropping significantly in grade and the distance suits him perfectly, should be winning but no value. SOHO FIRESTONE (11) was a much better version of himself last start and expect him to be running on well. ALTA RHETT (3) and MACHS BETTOR (4) both likely to contest the lead and can run solid races as long as they don’t overdo it. AMERICAN BULLITT (1) can improve from the draw. Tips: 9 11 4 3 Suggested Bet: SKYLORD (9) to win. Race 5 COVERNOTE (6) continues to impress and looks a major player again here, he is versatile and can make it 3 on the bounce. ONLY ME AND LOU (7) has good depth and looks to run a big race, he will make it an interesting contest. BANK NOTICE (2) looks the likely leader early and can run into the placings and other novelty chances include VISITING HOURS (3) and RIGGERS RIVER (4) Tips: 6 7 2 3 Suggested Bet: COVERNOTE (6) to win. Race 6 WATCH ME WAVE (1) has progressed nicely through the preparation and looks a nice type, suited by draw and class and has options from the draw, should go well. EVE CROCKER (7) has been ok since coming across to WA, may have to the bullocking work again here but she should be getting close to peak as she is now third up into the preparation. PUREST COPPER (5) is capable of better and last start was more encouraging than previous runs. WANDERING GIRL (6) has put together two good runs and has early speed. JACKIE DANIELS (9) is capable of much better and fitter, will be running on. FOLLOW MY STRIDE (8) is the queen of the trials but finding it hard to break through on race day. Tips: 1 7 5 9 Suggested Bet: WATCH ME WAVE (1) to win. Race 7 Open race upcoming. THE LIGHTNING STRIKE (6) is freshened up but is suited to this class and can run a good race here, keep him safe. Stablemate JILLIBY JAKE (8) was crossed last week and likely to see him sent forward in this race, he seems to begin better from wider. LILLY LAGUNA (2) is capable of running a cheeky race, she is a much better horse on speed. DOCTOR STEVE (6) has an awkward draw to overcome. GOTA GOOD WARHOL (9) having his third run in a week is a concern but he is holding good consistency. TRIROYALE BRIGADE (11) is ready to win, he just needs some racing luck. Tips: 6 8 2 9 Suggested Bet: LILLY LAGUNA (2) each way. Race 8 DEKLA DIVA (3) looks a strong winning chance here but has come up ridiculously short, her last run was solid against much better horses but she has found it hard to break through. SPICE PACKAGE (7) was a better effort last time out and looks like she will improve again here. LUCY VICTORIA (2) is not the worst, one for the quaddie’s. LUNETTA (4) won’t be far away. BROOKVALEGIRL (5) has improved nicely through the preparation and is a winning chance. HURRICANE JOY (9) is a speedy type and can run into the money at odds. Tips: 3 7 5 9 Suggested Bet: SPICE PACKAGE (7) each way. Race 9 NICKYS SON (1) has the ideal draw and comes out of a strong trotters event which has already produced winners. Looks the testing material here. AH UNAGI (2) was impressive in his first WA run and has a good draw, the stable does a good job with their small team and he should be kept safe. SCOOTIN AROUND (3) returns and has talent, has good early speed but being first up over the longer trip it creates some concern. ALDEBARAN SUNDOWN (5) was a much better effort last time out and he is capable of a podium finish here. Tips: 1 2 3 5 Suggested Bet: NICKYS SON (1) to win. Market Market
