Matt Young’s Saturday Northam Preview

Race 1

GOGGINS (5) has hit a purple patch of form and looks a significant chance again and can push forward at the start and get up on speed, looks a strong chance to return to the winners list. ELEGANT EAGLE (8) shares similar form lines to the on top selection and has a nice trailing draw to follow through, should be getting home strongly. EASTON QUALITY (1) is first up for the new stable and has been racing soundly, respect. CRETACEOUS (10) returns and may need the run but can get into the money. STRAUNYS SISTER (2) was better last time out but needs to lead to be considered a winning chance for mine. THE WHIZZER (3) and ELEPHANT ROCK (7) novelty chances.

Suggested Bet: GOGGINS (5) to win.

Race 2

ZUEDE (8) returned well and showed gate speed and did the work and wasn’t beaten far, is this a new ZUEDE (8) after a freshen up? Either way he looks well placed to run a big race here and should be fitter. ADDA PARIS (1) has the nice draw, and numerical form is poor but fitter for first up run and as a rule the Brett Postans stable normally go well when Emily Suvaljko is placed on well, keep safe. SWANBOURNE SPUNK (9) will be running on well but is coming into this race fresh. SANFORD BART (4) is capable and shouldn’t be too far away. BAZZA MAC (10) is capable but first up is a concern.

Suggested Bet: ADDA PARIS (1) each way.

Race 3

Open race. ZLATO (1) has the nice draw, and his numerical form isn’t that flash but 5 starts ago he led and ran a big race so I am suggesting he can go well in this at a price, happy to play him at hopeful value. TUX AND TAILS (9) has yet to win at Northam after 30 attempts, he has gone close, and I think he can run a big race here, but that stat is damning. VINTAGE BLU (10) has elevated and will be getting home well from the tricky draw. HIGHLY FLAMMABLE (8) much better suited drawn into the field. STATE MY CASE (4) is going well enough to make a splash and FOLLOW THE MUSIC (5) and KEPTAIN COURAGEOUS (6) racing well but the draws and their racing style make it difficult.

Suggested Bet: ZLATO (1) each way.

Race 4

I LIKE WHAT I SEE (3) did plenty of work last start and weakened, form prior was solid and this grade suits, expecting her to run a bold race from the draw. HOT CINDER (1) has options, she was better last time out but also does race better at a shorter distance than this. MADDY ROCKS (9) is racing well, she hit the line nicely on Tuesday and will be getting home strongly, especially if the pace suits. GHOSTWRITER (5) can race well fresh, has ability. SECOND AMENDMENT (7) is a place hope from the draw. METEOROID (10) mixes his form but can earn.

Tips: 3 9 1 7

Suggested Bet: MADDY ROCKS (9) each way.

Race 5

Good competitive race upcoming. GETN WIGGY WITHIT (4) has hit the line well in recent runs and doesn’t look far away from breaking through, he is versatile but also has a good amount of early speed. MIKIPELO (3) has been racing against talented fields and looks a strong each way player in this. MAJIC BAY (10) has been absolutely flying and can zap home again from the awkward draw. SHES A MARE (1) is a place chance from the draw with AMERICAN MONARCH (2) who could attempt to use her early speed and then has options. TOMMY PRICE (7) is a winning chance but faces some traffic problems. SOUND WAVE (9) has an awkward draw but has been racing against tougher.

Tips: 4 3 10 7

Suggested Bet: GETN WIGGY WITHIT (4) each way.

Race 6

Not a heap of exposed form here. SHES MY LITTLE GEM (6) has shown enough for mine and looks a winning chance even from the wide gate but wouldn’t want to be diving in too short. FUEGO CRUZADO (2) knocked up last run but has shown promise, still getting a gauge on this Matt Scott trained import. DAWSON SHARD (8) is racing consistently and won’t be far away again. STRIKING A DEAL (7) needs a touch of luck from the draw but will be hitting the line strongly. CINDYS SECRET (9) will be running on and LONESTAR WARRIOR (10) is not racing well but this is a big drop in grade and can improve.

Tips: 6 8 2 7

Suggested Bet: DAWSON SHARD (8) each way.

Race 7

MANHATTAN RUBY (7) gets into this race perfectly, she has tapered off a touch in recent runs but that’s been taking on the best fillies in the state, she should win this but likely to be very short. SHECANPLAY (2) has the speed to lead and has options from there but should finish in the top 3. CAPTAIN PAPRIKA (5) and SHES ALL GO (3) both racing similar with the former getting home strongly last time out in a good speed race, can finish the race off well again.

Suggested Bet: MANHATTAN RUBY (7) to win.
