Matt Young’s Saturday Bunbury Preview Posted on October 23, 2025October 24, 2025 | Posted by Matt Young Race 1 DIAMOND BAY (1) comes back from a break and has the perfect draw, she has good speed, and her form was good before a break, looks hard to beat even though she is first up. SAMMY SUFFERALL (2) was a solid win in the WA debut, steps up but looks likely to win more races this preparation. AIR MARSHAL (5) comes in fresh but has been racing tougher before the little break. STRIKING A DEAL (6) and THE ULTIMATE BEACH (7) both have decent form lines, but the draws seem to really level their chances to an extent. Tips: 1 5 2 7 Suggested Bet: DIAMOND BAY (1) to win. Race 2 DAWSON SHARD (3) performs well at the mile and expect to see him fire out, fire up and give them something to chase. JACK MANNIX (6) was horribly unlucky last time out and think the distance is against him here from the draw but expect him to be working into the money. EASTERN ADVANCE (2) is a horse I’ve always had a bit of time for, and I think Hayden Hancock does a good job with a small team of horses, could be an improver on the comeback and has high speed. SUGAR BOO (5) is capable but last 3 have been well below her best. Tips: 3 6 2 5 Suggested Bet: DAWSON SHARD (3) to win. Race 3 HOTFOOT IT (4) looks suited in this grade and although he has been mixing his form this looks to be a suitable race for him and he has early speed, could pounce on them and be very hard to beat. GET YA BETS ON (2) is racing well since returning but early speed has always been a query for him. MACHANE SAID (7) didn’t have much luck last time out but has been mixing form, will be running on and is capable. ZLATO (6) won’t be far away but prefer him on speed and won’t get that luxury from the draw. JINGLING JEWELS (1) can be included in your novelties. Tips: 4 2 7 1 Suggested Bet: HOTFOOT IT (4) to win. Race 4 DREAM CONTROL (5) has early speed and has been in fine form, she is versatile and looks very hard to beat here, think she can cross and be mighty hard to run down. I do prefer her at a shorter distance if she is being used but this grade looks suitable to burn the candle. I LIKE WHAT I SEE (3) trialled up well and early speed is a query but should be in the money as she can do the work. HEAVY METAL HAMMER (4) creates interest having start number one in the west. SUNDANCER RAINBOW (1) not completely at her best but is always a novelty chance when drawn well with MY ULTIMATE KEVVIE (8). Tips: 5 3 1 4 Suggested Bet: DREAM CONTROL (5) to win. Race 5 REINETTE (2) is a massive drop in grade and has the draw, she looks to lead and dominate. It could be argued that she is a few steps below her best, but I think on what she has shown against the Oaks fillies, she can lead and win this and do so comfortably. DOTTIES IMPACT (7) must work with the tough draw but has blasted onto the scene and looks a nice type, this will be a good test for her, but she is racing with zest. ULTIMATE EVENT (3) will be fitter for the return run and has upside. ALWAYS CHANGIN (9) will be getting home well, and GIRL OF BRIGHTNESS (5) comes in fresh but has shown more than enough promise to finish in the money. Tips: 2 7 3 9 Suggested Bet: REINETTE/DOTTIES IMPACT to exacta. Race 6 GEE SMITH (8) is a horse who can do some work in his races and last start he was beaten late but did a lot of chasing, looks better suited here and can turn the tables on BOBBY WATERHOUSE (6) who continues to improve every time he steps out, should be dangerous again here. GOLD HORSESHOE (7) was solid in his return run, needs a safe getaway but should be improved with fitness. BREWERY LANE (3) not at his best but normally steps well and becomes a novelty chance with the in-form HES THUNDER (2) who is a bit of a mystery from the tapes. LUKES MISTAKE (5) capable but would like to see him in front. Tips: 8 6 7 3 Suggested Bet. GEE SMITH (8) to win. Race 7 ATLANTIC GEM (5) drops incredibly in grade and has brilliant early gate speed, should dash to the top and realistically should win by as far as they want her too. HONOUR THE EAGLE (2) has put together a couple of solid runs and has the speed to lead and/or be close enough to the speed and run into the top 2. SWEET SASSYMOLASSY (3) is a novelty chance, but it gets harder once they’re back that extra length and if the favourite is turning it on it gets tough for her and ALTA KING (4), LIGHTFOOT LEIGH (6) and CRETACEOUS (7) Tips: 5 2 6 3 Suggested Bet: HONOUR THE EAGLE (2) to place. Race 8 HURRICANEHOPE (6) was arrogant in victory on Tuesday and looks hard to beat again, she is versatile and should be driven like the best horse. EASTON QUALITY (5) has been consistent since entering the new stables of Ashleigh Markham and has the draw advantage, presents as the main danger and a challenge. GO HOME JO (9) and GEARSINAWHIRL (10) have good closing splits if saved up and expect them to emerge late. IDEALINCIDER (1) is capable but comes in fresh. Tips: 6 5 9 1 Suggested Bet. EASTON QUALITY/HURRICANEHOPE to quinella. Market Market
