Matt Young’s Monday Pinjarra Preview Posted on February 23, 2026February 23, 2026 | Posted by Matt Young Race 1 IGNITE THE FURNACE (6) was outstanding in a recent trial win which backed up from a solid trial the week before, he ran home in 28.5,27.5 and to be honest, looked like he wasn’t out of second gear, very hard to go past him on that trial. PAS DE BOURREE (3) looks a nice type, has plenty of early speed and looks the leader and will give them something to catch. GEORGE MYBOY (4) was decent in his debut run, still looks a little green but there is ability there. WHATS GOIN ON (1) and LIGHTONTHEHILL (2) were both similar on debut. Tips: 6 3 4 1 Suggested Bet: IGNITE THE FURNACE (6) to win. Race 2 Capacity trotters event and a bit tricky. OLD DOMINION (8) was expected to run well in the debut run in the west against the Trotters Cup winner Grumpee, needs a touch of luck from the draw and to trot better but respect the form and money from last run. LOTS OF CHANGE (5) is to be respected on return, capable type who could be headed for a decent campaign. MRIYA DREAM (9) didn’t have much luck last time out but is capable, prefer him off the front row. ELISH STAR (4) novelty chance with his usual early speed and SELLUNE (1) comes into play from the draw with COL DU GRANON (10) capable and better suited at the short course. Tips: 8 5 9 4 Suggested Bet: OLD DOMINION (8) to win. Race 3 SPORTING GRACE (2) was bolting in the run last time out and still hit the line well, has plenty of early speed and the distance suits, could just jump and run and be too good for these. BLOCKJORG (8) has got the perfect draw, and the tempo could suit the peg line runners and she loves this trip, expecting her to run home well. DAMAGE DONE (1) has the draw to improve and has early speed, interesting to see what happens with him early but on the first up run they may be more conservative. YANKEE LINCOLN (4) would be a winning chance if he could cross, he has got plenty of speed and the experience of Shannon Suvaljko, so it’s not impossible. LUKE ATTACK (6) racing a lot better but a tough draw. Tips: 2 8 1 4 Suggested Bet: SPORTING GRACE (2) to win. Race 4 BETTOR BEHAVE (6) was solid in his return run and that was with a draw disadvantage to SOUTHERNER (7) who this time draws to his outside, addition of a race run fitness gives the edge to BETTOR BEHAVE (6). SOUTHERNER (7) is in top form, and this looks to be a good test from the wide gate. AUSSIE CAPTAIN (10) is a horse I have plenty of time for, will be fitter and expecting him to run home well. SLAY QUEEN (8) capable but needs some luck from the draw and same can be said for the stablemate CINCH (4). Tips: 6 7 10 8 Suggested Bet: BETTOR BEHAVE (6) to win. Race 5 SMOKEYS SHADOW (3) is a speedy beginner and could see him pinging out and leading and over the short course, we could see get back to his best, keen on his chances. REDDY TO FLY (8) had a torrid run at Albany on Friday and if he doesn’t take much harm from that, he is drawn well and could get the last look at them. HARRYS A ROCKSTAR (1) has the nice draw but has yet to fire since returning. ALTA EXPRESS (2) hit the line well Friday and can be included in the novelties with STIRUP IRON JACK (7) and BEALAWYER (9). Tips: 3 8 1 9 Suggested Bet: SMOKEYS SHADOW (3) to win. Race 6 SOUTH SIDE STORY (12) trialled up well and looks to be a bit of a work horse from that trial, can watch things unfold in this capacity field and be put into it and looks very hard to hold out late. TASHS SPARTAN (3) is a consistent type and has the decent draw to settle forward in running and that versatility will bring him into play. BALINGUP BOY (1) is consistent, but the early speed can vary, still can finish in the money. TROIS FONTAINE (8) drawn to get a beautiful run on the peg line which suits her but has the map in the hands of the pole marker. Novelty chances to ALTA KING (5), MISTER KOPA (6) and IDEAL INTEREST (10). Tips: 12 3 1 8 Suggested Bet: SOUTH SIDE STORY (12) to win. Race 7 Good competitive race. PAROQUET (9) returns and looks well suited here in this grade, she is the class of the field and expecting her to be sharp enough and fit enough to play a significant part in this, go well. SHEER ROCK LADY (11) was just plain last time out, looks better suited here and was performing well at this track prior to that last run. THE SWINDLER (7) racing well but the draw makes her map very tricky to work out. WORLD SECRET (6) capable of a lot better than what we saw first up, respect. OUR LILILOU (10) will be running on well, just needs some tempo. SNAKEY BAY (1) a novelty chance from the draw, wasn’t bad last time out and JILL MACH (5) trialled very well but isn’t known for her early brilliance. Tips: 9 11 10 6 Suggested Bet: PAROQUET (9) to win. Race 8 Open race. ICY COLD (1) has the speed to lead but also has options, this is her pet distance and should be thereabouts. ERA (8) will be hoping she leads, he is racing well and will be very dangerous late in this, drawn to get a soft run either leaders back or three back the pegs. XCITE ME (9) ran well on Friday night, this grade is easier but is following out a moderate beginner. TURBO JAY (5) faces a good test after two wins in the state, trickier draw to work with. THE BEACH MASTER (6) has been racing well in metro grade and also has early speed. MIKI WINDERMERE (7) can do work but will have to do plenty to get forward by the looks of things. Tips: 8 1 5 9 Suggested Bet: ERA (8) each way. Race 9 CAPTAINS COTE (1) this may be a wild selection but there could be method to my madness. Her only decent run for mine this time in was at this distance and from this draw, has options in this grade and Stuart McDonald goes aboard, I think there could be a sharp improvement at value. BE HOME SOON (3) is mixing his form but has early speed and can run some solid sections so he must be respected. ANYWHEREIGOHUGO (7) won well at this trip two starts ago and then was disappointing last time out, tough draw but right grade. HES ROYAL BLUE (5) needs luck from the draw but better last run. STRAYLYA (9) might need the run but is capable with HEAVENLY BLISS (6) who is consistent but may have be driven for one run. Tips: 1 3 7 9 Suggested Bet: CAPTAINS COTE (1) each way. Market Market
