Matt Young’s Friday Gloucester Park Preview Posted on August 13, 2026August 13, 2026 | Posted by Matt Young Race 1 Open race to kick us off. JAXS IDEAL (7) has improved nicely with every run this time in and got a well deserved win at Pinjarra, back to a mobile and not the quickest front line, could push forward hard here and is a chance to find the top and from a forward position will be very hard to beat. LUCKY COPY (12) just needs a genuine tempo to bring her into play, has good closing speed. WALL STREET GIRL (6) will balance early and push forward and look for a forward position once they settle, has been luckless in recent runs and looks ready to run a big race. TAXI IT IS (3) is racing soundly, could look to get forward here with BULL SHARK BETTY (2) a novelty chance with her early speed. DIAMOND WORLD (8) racing well but needs luck from the wide draw with MISS VINCENZA (9) both of their maps are challenging. Tips: 7 6 12 2 Suggested Bet: JAXS IDEAL (7) to win. Race 2 D MAC (6) was very brave in defeat against IM STEALTHY (9) and they both look set to battle again, leaning to D MAC (6) with the draw advantage, being off the front row and rising up to the middle distance. IM STEALTHY (9) was outstanding in his winning return, expect him to run a bold race again, has strings to his bow. EL MYSTRO (5) was fantastic in a return trial, bumps into the best ones but can be featured in the money and will win plenty of races this time in. BUMRAH (2) has the speed to get forward again and be a novelty chance, has been thrown in the deep end and handling it well. PROPOSITION JOE (7) faces a difficult task and will be a good test for him. HE IS TALKING (11) will get home well, has come back this time in. IDEAL BEACH (8) will be looking to improve this time in but looks difficult. Tips: 6 9 5 2 Suggested Bet: D MAC (6) to win. Race 3 Intriguing race. STARLIGHT DREAM (1) holds the key to the race, does she lead or does she sit? She’s been racing consistently for a large amount of time and might be given her chance but either way will get a good run. HUNGER STRIKE (2) will be hoping she sits, battled on well against Magnificent Storm last time out and will appreciate this, go well. RUBY LOVERA (10) needs a touch of luck and comes in fresh but is talented and will be dangerous with even luck. SWEET COCO (3) will try and settle as close as she can and has a good turn of foot late. Tricky draws for SEBASTIAN JAMES (4) and CAPTAIN SAID SO (9). Tips: 1 10 2 3 Suggested Bet: RUBY LOVERA (10) each way. Race 4 MAGNIFICENT STORM (9) likely charges forward and was a fantastic win on return where he had to do the work and was too strong, will improve off the back of that and this looks even more suitable in grade and up to the middle distance. BETTORS PRIDE (10) will get a soft run here and the gaps should open and give him a good place chance. PENNY BLACK (7) and NEVER ENDING (8) return from challenging draws but both could run into the money, they will hold market percentage even with challenging maps. MASTER PUBLISHER (1) will be looking to hold a forward position; he is a decent place chance with IM LIGHTNING BANNER (3) who will be looking to blast off the arm at the start and lead early. HEAVENLY GIPSY (11) a top 4 contender as she will hug the rails. Tips: 9 10 3 1 Suggested Bet: BETTORS PRIDE (10) to place. Race 5 BRICKIES DREAM (12) has been on my watch list for his last few runs and now finds a race where there can be a genuine tempo and is dropping out of genuine free for all grade, looks a strong race for him and think he can show his best here. LUVBITE (13) is just a winner, looked beaten last run and surged through the puddles and mud to snatch victory late, will be in the thick of it again. STORMY VISTA (8) will be suited to the longer trip but looks a race he will need to be put into it at some stage. CAPTAINS CREEK (2) will look to lead, has been racing well but this is a deep race. DAWSON (1) has had a few chances leading, hasn’t been beaten far but seems to be found out in this grade a touch, place chance. MAUNGATAHI (9) fitter will be running on, novelty chance with BLAMEITONTHENIGHT (3) who will be hugging the rails. MACHNIFICENT (10) not the worst chance but needs the gaps to open at the right time. Tips: 12 13 8 2 Suggested Bet: BRICKIES DREAM (12) to win. Race 6 LUCCA (5) deserves a win, I say this every week, and he continues to justify the comment with brave performances, has good speed and will be looking for the top and or a forward position, think he will go close again. OUR CRUNCH TIME (7) bounced back to his best with a good win last time out, has strings to his bow but most likely heads forward. OPAL HUNTER (8) has options with his early speed but looks tough to cross but may look to get forward, versatility a key factor for him in this. Early speed interesting, SKYLORD (2) has yet to recapture his best form, a novelty chance in this and will try and lead early with IMA FIVESTAR GENERAL (3), CAMS BOULDER (4) both chances to lead and look for cover, novelty hopes. HALE SAINT LOUIE (6) has a tricky draw but is consistent and capable. Tips: 5 7 8 4 Suggested Bet: LUCCA (5) to win. Race 7 SCOOTER B (12) is highly talented and faces his toughest test since returning, fitness should be building nicely and we can see him improve nicely to the lengths needed and should get the job done but does bump into a nice type in AMERICAN BLAZE (9) who is 2 from 2 for Michael Munro but faces that difficult draw, will be driven positive and look to run a bold race again. OVERLY EXCITED (4) is good enough to run a strong race, had no luck in the Higgins, basically 3 deep the trip and will look to get forward, don’t think he can win but can earn. ELITE FLEET (8) is a novelty chances, comes in fresh and novelty chances to HAVEYOUMETTED (1) and BURGHLEY SHARD (2). Tips: 12 9 4 8 Suggested Bet: SCOOTER B/AMERICAN BLAZE to Exacta. Race 8 RAKLOU (6) will continue to roll forward and look to be outside the speed here, she needs to get on pace as she isn’t the greatest horse around Gloucester Park, likes to hang in and it becomes costly, looks a strong chance in this grade. Plenty happening early, PRIDDAH (1) will look to hold a forward position and was something beaten last time out, LORD PUBLISHER (3) will be looking to get forward and races well on speed with IDEAL INTEREST (4) who will look to use his speed as well. MAGIC CAPTAIN (10) needs some luck from the draw, but the early speed could bring him into it with even luck. WICKED HUSTLER (7) capable type and must be respected in this grade. Tips: 6 10 3 7 Suggested Bet: RAKLOU (6) to win. Race 9 ATLAS THE TITAN (12) was an outstanding return after 2 years away from the track, handled the pressure and wasn’t beaten far against Captain Stirling, who would be favourite in this, strips fitter and looks a suitable grade, hard to beat. SPIRIT OF SAHARA (4) creates interest and reads up well, first up for Jocelyn Young, should be able to push forward to the top and give them something to catch. LOU LAMOUR (8) faces a difficult draw but his speed at any point in the race can get him into the money. Other novelty chances to ADMIRAL DARCY (5), PRINCE OF TRIBECA (6) and DOURADO (9) who was better last time out. Tips: 12 4 8 9 Suggested Bet: ATLAS THE TITAN (12) to win. Race 10 OFF SHORE (8) reads up well for his WA debut and looks hard to beat in this, will be ready to go on return and the market will tell the biggest tale. EDGE ELEVEN (1) has the speed to lead early and has taken cover in the most recent two efforts and has responded well to that, might go that option again. ELQUESTRO (5) looks to have ability but faces an awkward draw. VALENTINO (7) has ability but faces a challenging task on return. RIP TIDE (10) ideally drawn but needs to settle in his races, over raced badly last time out and hurt him late. Tips: 8 1 10 5 Suggested Bet: OFF SHORE/EDGE ELEVEN to Exacta. Market Market
