Matt Young’s Friday Busselton Preview Posted on January 22, 2026January 23, 2026 | Posted by Matt Young Race 1 YANKEE LINCOLN (1) looks perfectly placed here, he’s had a few runs back to build up fitness, he is a compact type who steps well and looks suited on the track and Peter Tilbrook has been a Busselton master in the past and can wind the clock back here and wheel and deal out in front, very hard to beat. JOEYS ON A ROLL (6) is very one paced, distance will suit and needs to be put into it. ISAIDBOO (5) I prefer at shorter, but he can step well and run home. HES ROYAL BLUE (2) was solid two starts ago, could get a soft run but his record at the longer trip isn’t flash. A DUKE TO BE (7) I prefer at shorter also and must overcome the 20m. MISTER SAUVAGE (3) can fill a novelty position. Tips: 1 5 6 2 Suggested Bet: YANKEE LINCOLN (1) to win. Race 2 DUNAMIS (3) is a horse who can be driven assertively and stepped safely last time out, looks set to run a bold race and likely do the work if he doesn’t find the top. SAGATIOUS (4) is a chance, shouldn’t be too far away and is knocking on the door. THIS TIME JACKO (2) was a nice effort after having no luck on Tuesday, needs to step so it’s a big IF for him early but the class suits. IDEAL WHITBY (5) has had many opportunities, don’t think he’ll be too far away. RUN BOB RUN (6) finds this harder from the handicap and class. Tips: 3 4 2 5 Suggested Bet: SAGATIOUS (4) each way. Race 3 MOSCATO ROSE (1) was a nice effort last time out over the longer trip after missing away, she is back to the short course and normally steps well, could lead this and finally break through, I’m excited about her chances tonight. WHOOPSADAISY (2) also a major player if she could find the top, nice effort last time out and stepped well. SLOANIE BELL (4) hasn’t had the best of luck recently and looks a chance with clear running. VICIOUSLY UNKIND (6) hard to get a gauge on after last effort but better suited at shorter trip, needs to step safely. THE PROTOTYPE (5) a novelty chance. MOTOR ON JESSIE (8) not the worst but the handicap and traffic issues will likely come into play. Tips: 1 2 4 6 Suggested Bet: MOSCATO ROSE (1) each way. Race 4 DAWSON (8) was a good win against the tempo last time out and appears hard to beat, handicap is achievable and he looks to be very hard to hold out here but will have to earn it. MYDADTHETERROR (2) and LUKES MISTAKE (3) both in good form and whichever steps best will likely lead and run a bold race, both are winning chances. IM THE BEST (9) is racing in dazzling form, but the distance has been one I’ve always had a concern with him in the past, add the class and capacity of the field and he might just fall short again but has been stepping brilliantly and racing well. EXTINCTION (4) is capable but needs to be driven for one run and same story for previous Busselton Cup winner AWAITINGINSTRUCTIONS (6). Tips: 8 3 2 9 Suggested Bet: DAWSON (8) to win. Race 5 Cracking race to conclude the season. VILLAGE DEE JAY (7) has been airborne this season and looks hard to beat again but drops further back in handicap and a few meets her well in this, she has the versatility. RIPPER VIEW (8) was disappointing last time out but her record track and distance is hard to fault, and she normally steps well, can bounce back and be dangerous, but does need a few things to go right. TWOHEARTONEDIAMOND (1) needs to step safely but has been consistent and shouldn’t be too far away. THREE FLAMES (2) looks the likely leader and could give cheek at the short course with that handicap advantage. MOTOR ON LILLY (4) can step well and be a novelty chance with CAPTURE THE MOMENT (3) and FOLLOW MY STRIDE (6) who aren’t the quickest beginners. Tips: 7 8 1 2 Suggested Bet: VILLAGE DEE JAY (7) to win. Market Market
