Matt Young’s Friday Busselton Preview Posted on January 14, 2026January 16, 2026 | Posted by Matt Young Race 1 MOTOR ON LILLY (6) is a speculative tip here, but the overall form of the race isn’t prominent, and this mare can step like a bullet, could find herself in front and if that does occur, I think she can get the win. I LIKE WHAT I SEE (5) was a better effort last time out and is one of the genuine stayers in the race. CAPTAINS COTE (4) is improving, wasn’t a bad effort on Monday over the 1177m lightning lap, steps right up in distance again here. SLOANIE BELL (3) can feature with the handicap advantage and MOSCATO ROSE (2) is a novelty chance. Tips: 6 5 3 4 Suggested Bet: MOTOR ON LILLY (6) to win. Race 2 EXTINCTION (5) has been racing strongly since returning and got a well-deserved win last time out, he races a couple of decent ones here but is versatile and his times have been strong, expecting him to go close. DAWSON (8) must be respected, needs a safe getaway but should be in contact with the runners quickly and then has strings to his bow. EN PARIANT SUR (7) is better suited in this grade, last few runs have been out in the wilderness but expecting him to improve. HES ROYAL BLUE (3) is a place chance with COOPER (4) and ISAIDBOO (6). Tips: 5 8 7 3 Suggested Bet: EXTINCTION (5) to win. Race 3 VICIOUSLY UNKIND (4) got caught between a rock and a hard place last time out and looks better suited here, can step safely and looks a big chance to run to the lead and from there she should get the job done. TWOHEARTONEDIAMOND (3) was slow into stride last week, needs to step well to be a major player. THE PROTOTYPE (5) will be better suited in the small field, can come with one run. FLASH MOB (2) needs to step safely but was better last time out, up to the 2400m creates interest. Tips: 4 5 3 2 Suggested Bet: VICIOUSLY UNKIND (4) to win. Race 4 VILLAGE DEE JAY (3) is racing in top form, good win from the rear last time out, can bounce on the speed here and hard to see them catching her after she won at this trip in good time two starts ago. RIPPER VIEW (6) has been racing in great form but now goes back to the 50m, the distance will suit her catching the field and the small size of the field, but this isn’t her preferred trip, needs some tempo to suit her. THREE FLAMES (1) was found out at this trip two starts ago but can be placed. CAPTURE THE MOMENT (2) is improving and may be driven forward. FOLLOW MY STRIDE (5) is like RIPPER VIEW (6) in this race in hoping the tempo suits but expecting to run on well. Tips: 3 6 2 5 Suggested Bet: VILLAGE DEE JAY (3) to win. Race 5 Open race. IDEAL WHITBY (6) looks suited here and is one of few that can be put into the race, has been performing soundly and deserves to break through. RUN BOB RUN (3) is racing soundly, could charge around and look for the top and give them something to catch. CAPPY THE FIREY (1) might try to lead with a safe getaway, his last run was sound. MISTER SAUVAGE (4) is improving and ONE FOR HAITCH (7) is suited in this grade, but the handicap hurts him given he has never won a race. Tips: 6 3 4 1 Suggested Bet: IDEAL WHITBY (6) to win. Race 6 MYDADTHETERROR (4) is racing in top form and has been stepping well, looks likely to ping around and land in front and from there can make it 3 from 3 at the track this season. IM THE BEST (7) was good last time out, got keen in the run and would’ve taken away some of his sprint late, he has been flying away. RAMBO RABBIT (6) did too much work on Tuesday, can head forward here and stick on. MASTER LEIGHTON (5) a chance, wasn’t beaten far last time out. HUGHEY (3) has novelty claims. Tips: 4 7 5 6 Suggested Bet: MYDADTHETERROR (4) to win. Market Market
