Trent’s Gloucester Park Preview Posted on February 22, 2018February 22, 2018 | Posted by Trent Cooper Trent Cooper’s Preview Race 1: GONG XI FA CAI MS PACE MISTER ARDEE (2) has been racing well on outer country tracks and drops in class despite coming to town. He was a brave 2nd at Williams at his last start and gets his chance from a lovely draw. BAD ROUND (7) has been unplaced at his last five starts but drops in class for this and should be charging home. SAY IT NOW (9) surprised in winning from the breeze in good time last week and will be in the finish again if he reproduces that run. ITSALLABOUT NICOLE (4) is clearly the best horse in the field but is first up after a three year absence. Tips: 2 7 9 4 Suggested Bet: MISTER ARDEE (2) to win. Race 2: HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR MS PACE SPRINGSTEEN (1) led early before sitting on Talktomeurmattjesty when 2nd to that pacer in 1.55.1 four starts back. He hasn’t had things go his way since and gets his chance from the pole over the sprint trip. A BOY NAMED ROSIE (6) had excuses last start but his previous form was very solid against stronger fields. JAMES GALLEON (8) has had his chance when placed at his last three but should be thereabouts again. RED SALUTE (3) has been unplaced at his past 11 starts but could be an improver from this draw tonight. Tips: 1 6 8 3 Suggested Bet: SPRINGSTEEN (1) to win. Race 3: 2018 – THE YEAR OF THE DOG MS PACE SHEER ROCKNROLL (9) raced in stronger company last campaign, including a 3rd behind Ameretto in the Norms Daughter Classic. She resumes here without a trial from the widest draw but is an M5 taking on M1 and M2 pacers. MESSI (4) suffered a flat tyre last start but could be hard to run down if he finds the top. DANA DUKE (2) has won two of his last five and is drawn to offset the rise in class. IMA ROCKNROLL LEGEND (7) was beaten as a $1.30 favourite but is just as likely to score an upset victory tonight. Tips: 9 4 2 7 Suggested Bet: SHEER ROCKNROLL (9) to win. Race 4: AUSTRALIA ASIA BUSINESS WEEKLY MS PACE ZENNART (12) has impressed with two victories from back row draws after being away from the racetrack for almost three years. He should strip fitter again and is the one to beat. MAXENTIUS (2) doesn’t have the class of his two main rivals but is drawn to lead and will give a great sight. BETTOR BE LIVELY (11) is back to his best with consecutive victories and looks the other winning chance. HOT FRATERNITY (7) has been placed at his last four and will be running on again. Tips: 12 2 11 7 Suggested Bet: MAXENTIUS (2) each way. Race 5: GOVERNORS CUP MS PACE CHICAGO BULL (5) has started at $1.10 and won like he should at his last two starts. It looks more difficult with the draw tonight but he should still prove too good. BETTORS FIRE (4) draws inside the favourite tonight and looks the likely leader so he will give them something to catch. OHOKA PUNTER (3) has finished 2nd to his superior stablemate at his last two and looks a great place chance again. NEW WORLD ORDER (1) is drawn to follow the speed and shouldn’t be far away. Tips: 5 4 3 1 Suggested Bet: CHICAGO BULL (5) to win. Race 6: 8 ON THE POINT CHINESE MS PACE COTT BEACH (9) crossed from this barrier when a strong winner four starts back and led from this barrier again last start but had to do too much work when nailed late. Her chances will be determined in the first few hundred metres but will be hard to catch if she leads comfortably. DETROIT LILY (5) has a 1.55.4 NZ win on debut in her resume and is a big watch. LADY DE LA RENTA (12) endured a torrid run last start but her previous form is good enough. SLICK ARTIST (8) has won her last three and must be respected. Tips: 9 5 12 8 Suggested Bet: COTT BEACH (9) to win. Race 7: THE LEWIS MARES FINAL MS PACE MADAME MEILLAND (1) has been placed at her last three, including a close 2nd to Vampiro after facing the breeze. She is drawn to lead tonight and will be very hard to beat. BETTER B CHEVRON (12) was just beaten by MON LILLIES (8) last start but has won 8 of her past 11 and must be respected. GOTTA GO GABBANA (4) has impressed in winning her last three on end but goes up in class tonight. MON LILLIES (8) has won three of her last four but will find it harder from out here. Tips: 1 12 4 8 Suggested Bet: MADAME MEILLAND (1) to win. Race 8: CELEBRATE CHINESE NEW YEAR AT GLOUCESTER PARK CONDITIONED HANDICAP SS PACE MAJOR CATASTROPHE (5) has only missed a place once in his last seven starts and will be thereabouts again. He was a brave 2nd here last week after facing the breeze and is likely to push forward to obtain that position again tonight. CUT FOR AN ACE (11) won in 1.51.8 here recently and will give a great sight if he steps quickly. ZACH MAGUIRE (9) meets MAJOR CATASTROPHE (5) better at the handicaps tonight and has a nice turn of foot. RULING GOLD (4) has won three of his last four and is ready for the step up in class. Tips: 5 11 9 4 Suggested Bet: MAJOR CATASTROPHE (5) each way. SuperPick - Race 8 No. 5 MAJOR CATASTROPHE - Money Back RACE 9: CHINA TOWN COMES TO GLOUCESTER PARK MS PACE KRISTIAN ROBERT (4) has been placed at two of his last three in stronger company and will appreciate this moderate affair. He has been chasing home the likes of Zennart and Red October and doesn’t meet any rivals of that calibre tonight. CYCLONEDOMIC (1) turned around his disappointing form with a close up 4th on Monday and has to be considered from the draw. RAFFAELLO (7) is one paced but will be battling away in this field and STARLIGHT BRIGADE (9) impressed when a fast finishing 3rd here last week. Tips: 4 1 7 9 SUGGESTED BET: KRISTIAN ROBERT (4) to win. RACE 10: FOLLOW GLOUCESTER PARK ON FACEBOOK TROTTERS DISCRETIONARY HANDICAP SAMMY CHARLES (9) hasn’t missed a place in his last 13 starts and began this campaign strongly with a 2nd to Balmoral Boy before a narrow victory over Diamond Geezer. He will be fitter for those efforts and should give a great sight. TON TINE (1) has won three on end in easier company but is ready for the rise in class. LIGHTNING CALDER (7) was placed in three consecutive starts before finding the front and recording an easy victory on Monday and must be respected. DIAMOND GEEZER (8) is always running on and looks a place chance. Tips: 9 1 7 8 SUGGESTED BET: SAMMY CHARLES (9) to win. Bet Now
