Gloucester Park 12 February – Harness Preview Posted on February 12, 2016February 12, 2016 | Posted by Trent Cooper Trent Cooper’s Preview Race 1: COWDEN INSURANCE BROKER WESTBRED MS PACE MUSCLE TORQUE (2) has only managed four starts spread over 2½ years and resumed from an 18 month break with a fast finishing 3rd to Twoandahalf Tigers when the winner ran home in 27.4. He should have derived benefit from that run and is the one to beat from this draw. PERSISTENT THREAT (5) hasn’t missed a place this campaign and looks up to the rise in class. ICY GRIN (7) has won two of his last three and should be competitive again, while GINAS INGOT (10) could be placed from his perfect draw. Tips: 2 5 7 1 Suggested Bet: MUSCLE TORQUE (2) to win. Race 2: LOOK FOR THE WESTBRED LOGO THE LEWIS QUALIFYING HEAT 2 THAT’S RITE (5) led throughout for an impressive string of victories before facing the breeze and was somewhat disappointing when unplaced last week. He looks likely to find the front here and can bounce back into the winners’ circle. BURNING (9) sat outside THAT’S RITE (5) twice and was placed behind that pacer on both occasions before beating a weaker field last week and should be thereabouts. ASTRA BOY (1) and BHAGWAN (8) are both racing very consistently and can be in the money again. Tips: 5 9 1 8 Suggested Bet: THAT’S RITE (5) to win. Race 3: WASBA PARADE STARTS AT 10.00AM MS PACE CHANGE STRIDE (9) has won his last three starts on country tracks and can make it four on end tonight. He has faced the breeze in his last two wins when winning impressively and is capable of overcoming this barrier and a likely tough run in transit. MIGHTY FLYING THOMAS (5) is racing extremely consistently and was a very brave 2nd last week. OHOKA KENTUCKY (10) raced a bit flat last week but can improve from this barrier, while THE BLACK LORD (1) looks the likely leader and wasn’t far away in a similar field last week. Tips: 9 5 10 1 Suggested Bet: CHANGE STRIDE (9) to win. Race 4: FIND YOUR WESTBRED CLASSIC WINNER DISCRETIONARY HANDICAP SS PACE CHIEF THUNDERCLOUD (9) is a proven standing start performer who resumed from a spell with a solid 2nd to Back On Board. He should strip fitter for that run and is clearly the one to beat. ASSASSINATOR (3) was 3rd in the same race and now has the benefit of standing start experience. MAJOR CATASTROPHE (8) hit the line hard last start and could be getting back to his best. PERFECT MACH (2) is a good beginner and won a similar race recently and should be considered. Tips: 9 3 8 2 Suggested Bet: CHIEF THUNDERCLOUD (8) to win. Race 5: 2016 WA YEARLING SALE 21ST FEBRUARY EMPRESS STAKES PRELUDE MS PACE THE PARADE (2) ran a nice 4th in the Bunbury Cup and then raced without luck in the big mares’ races during the Inters carnival. She resumes here without a trial but her barrier advantage over her main rivals makes her the one to beat. LEDA MCNALLY (5) has been very consistent and will be extremely hard to catch if she can cross at the start. JUNGLE JEWEL (8) will be relying on a solid tempo but will be unwinding a big finish. SOVEREIGN FAITH (3) won a recent Byford trial and is drawn to be thereabouts. Tips: 2 5 8 3 Suggested Bet: THE PARADE (2) to win. Race 6: AUSTRALASIAN PREMIER TROTTING SALES MS PACE CYAMACH (9) is racing extremely well and lost no admirers with a brave 2nd last week when he pushed forward at the start but had to be restrained to the rear when he couldn’t find the breeze. He can be driven more conservatively tonight and be a major player. OUR BLACKBIRD (8) raced well through the Inters series and was a very good 2nd last start in a similar field. ELEGANT CHRISTIAN (7) has faced the breeze at his first two runs back from a spell and is ready to win. MACHTU (6) won well recently and draws inside his main rivals. Tips: 9 8 7 6 Suggested Bet: CYAMACH (9) each way. Race 7: COWDEN LIMITED DAINTYS DAUGHTER CLASSIC MS PACE CHEVRONS CHAMPION (1) won three on end last campaign and has resumed with two nice 3rds behind MARY CATHERINE (12). She has the advantage of drawing the pole tonight and looks ready to run a big race. DODOLICIOUS (5) has eight wins and five 2nds from her 13 race starts and resumed from a spell with a comfortable win. BETTOR BOA (11) was beaten as a $1.04 favourite last start but her previous form is good enough for this. MARY CATHERINE (12) has beaten most of these at her last two starts but goes to the back line tonight. Tips: 1 5 11 12 Suggested Bet: CHEVRONS CHAMPION (1) to win. Race 8: TREVOR ITZSTEIN TROTTERS CONDITIONED HANDICAP EARL OF CHARITY (8) has been nigh on unbeatable in stands and he looks likely to overcome his 70m handicap and be too good for his rivals again. RETAINED (2) is a consistent trotter and should be thereabouts again. HOT HOLIDAY (9) is the other class trotter of this field and can overcome his back mark. IDLE MAPLE (1) has a 20m start on all of his rivals and that could be enough for him to be placed. Tips: 8 2 9 1 Suggested Bet: EARL OF CHARITY (8) to win. Race 9: CHRIS CARR 3YO MS PACE ALFS ODYSSEY (2) resumed from a spell with a fair 3rd to Campora before leading throughout in quick time last start. He is drawn inside his main rival and is the one to beat. NATHANS COURAGE (7) has won four of his eight race starts and has plenty of ability. He led throughout from a wide barrier last start and is the obvious danger. SOHO WALL STREET (4) pushed Chicago Bull two runs back before leading throughout last start and shouldn’t be far away. QUESTIONABLE GESTURE (5) ran 2nd to NATHANS COURAGE (7) last start and is the best of the rest. Tips: 2 7 4 5 Suggested Bet: ALFS ODYSSEY (2) to win. Race 10: PETER CHURCH MS PACE GLENFERRIE RUSTLER (11) last two efforts have been full of merit and he is ready to break through. He ran on strongly when 2nd to That’s Rite before just missing when a half head 2nd to Burning. He drops in class for this and looks very hard to beat despite the wide draw. ATTACK ON DEMAND (5) is a quick beginner who could give cheek over the sprint trip if he finds the top. FLYALONG FALCON (8) finished strongly when 2nd to Change Stride last start and can be thereabouts NIGHTWATCH LADY (2) has the draw to be placed. Tips: 11 5 8 2 Suggested Bet: GLENFERRIE RUSTLER (11) to win. Bet Now!
