Deane’s Oaks Day Best Bets Posted on November 8, 2017 | Posted by Deane Lester Deane Lester’s Preview Race 1 No. 16 Sworn Evidence Lightly raced filly who looks ideally placed to break through for a city win over 1700 metres. The Darren Weir trained galloper was an impressive Maiden winner three starts back at Geelong and recent runs have simply looked too short for her. The step up to 1700 metres looks ideal and she is extremely well weighted with just 54 kilograms. Last start she was beaten by Our Crown Mistress who subsequently franked that form when winning in grand style on Melbourne Cup Day. Craig Williams aboard is a plus and I think she looks to have a bright future ahead. Race 5 No. 5 Hellova Street The Scott Brunton trained gelding has had two runs back from a break and has been placed on both occasions, over the 1100 metres at Caulfield, and 1200 metres at Moonee Valley. Should relish the extra trip and likely to make his own luck up on top of the speed in this event. A prolific winner and looks a great each way play. Race 8 No. 1 Aloisia While Aloisia is likely to start one of the shortest priced favourites of the carnival, she looks a good thing. The Aaron Purcell trained filly has been dominant in recent weeks, firstly winning the 1000 Guineas over 1600 metres before defeating the boys in the Drummond Vase over 2040 metres at Moonee Valley. She has had a very similar Oaks preparation to the 2015 winner Jameka and she looks to be in a similar class. Has good tactical speed which should allow her to sit on speed, relax and simply be too classy. A deserved favourite and likely winner. SuperPick - Race 8 No. 1 Aloisia - Win Boost Bet Now
