Deane’s Saturday Sandown Best Bets Posted on November 17, 2017November 17, 2017 | Posted by Deane Lester Extra SuperPicks for Sandown – Races 1 & 2 RACE 1 OOHOOD (Number 7) looks a promising filly and clearly the one to beat on debut. SuperPick - Race 1 No. 7 OOHOOD - Win Boost RACE 2 This looks a tough race but SWORN EVIDENCE (Number 9) is back in distance with blinkers on and could be a sharp improver here. SuperPick - Race 2 No. 9 SWORN EVIDENCE - Place Boost Deane Lester’s Best Bets RACE 1 NO.7 OOHOOD The Tony McEvoy trained youngsters have been flying this season and OOHOOD can continue that trend when she runs in the Merson Cooper Stakes (1000m). The daughter of I am Invincible was given a quiet trial when finishing 4th over 800 metres at Morphettville on October 26. She has subsequently galloped strongly at Sandown on Tuesday which is important for a young horse to become acquainted with the track that she is going to race. In-form rider Luke Currie takes the mount and OOHOOD makes plenty of appeal. RACE 3 NO.2 GALLIC CHIEFTAIN GALLIC CHIEFTAIN can make amends for a luckless run in last week’s Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2600m) at Flemington with a win in the Sandown Cup (3200m). The Darren Weir trained stayer has been racing well in good quality races this spring and this looks his easiest task for the preparation. Last week, he settled too far back in the field but powered home late to finish 5th behind VENGEUR MASQUE. Talented rider Dean Yendall has a good record on GALLIC CHIEFTAIN who represents the best bet of the day. SuperPick - Race 3 No. 2 Gallic Chieftain - Win Boost RACE 10 NO.8 PETITION PETITION has endured a frustrating campaign but gets her chance for a late spring victory when she contests the Summoned Stakes (1500m). The four year old went to the line untested when finishing 4th behind GLOBAL GLAMOUR in the Tristarc Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on October 21. She’s very well placed in this grade, looks drawn for a good run and Mark Zahra, who has enjoyed a stellar spring, takes the ride. She is overdue for a stakes win and this looks a great opportunity to rectify that. Bet Now *A maximum of one SuperPick on an individual race. Available online only. Terms & Conditions apply.
