RACE 1 NO.7 ESPAANIYAH

The $500,000 Inglis Banner (1000m) is an extremely rich incentive race for early season two year olds and has attracted a field of some promising types that have been trialling strongly, none more so than the Waterhouse/ Bott trained filly ESPAANIYAH. The daughter of I Am Invincible has trialled nicely on two occasions, firstly at Randwick when finishing 2nd over 735 metres at Randwick on September 28 before showing good speed and winning an 800 metres jumpout at Flemington on October 12. She looks very well educated for her debut run and the stable won this race last year with SETSUNA. It’s always hard to line up young horses coming off a variety of trials and race form, however ESPAANIYAH looks primed for a big run.

RACE 4 NO.4 INTO THE ABYSS

Astute Sydney based trainer John Thompson looks to have identified a very suitable race for his talented filly INTO THE ABYSS when she contests the William Crockett Stakes (1200m) and looks a good each way value chance. The daughter of Foxwedge resumed from a spell with a solid 5th behind top filly SUNLIGHT in the Thoroughbred Club Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on October 13. She will be fitter for that run, looks drawn for a cheap run and top rider Damian Lane retains the ride. Whilst this looks an even and competitive race, INTO THE ABYSS makes plenty of appeal.

RACE 7 NO.8 CLIFF’S EDGE

The Schweppes Crystal Mile (1600m) looks the right race for CLIFFS EDGE to notch another victory. The four year old is a reliable front runner that has been racing well of late, winning over 1400 metres at Caulfield two starts back before a brave 5th behind LAND OF PLENTY in the Toorak Handicap (1600m) at Caulfield on October 13. That was a high pressure race and he battled on well over the final stages. He has raced well at Moonee Valley in the past, looks the likely leader here and represents the best bet of the day.
