Deane Lester’s Flemington Best Bets Posted on December 10, 2021December 10, 2021 | Posted by Deane Lester RACE 2 NO.2 ELUDING Developing apprentice Madison Lloyd appears to have a strong book of rides on the Flemington program and ELDUING looks to be the pick of her mounts when he contests the Benchmark 70 Handicap (1600m). The five year old has resumed racing with consecutive wins at Warrnambool and Sandown, and should appreciate a step up in distance this time. He is likely to race close to the lead on a gentle speed which will complete a hat trick of wins and take his career record to 5 win from just 10 race starts. RACE 3 NO.2 MODEAR Another Madison Lloyd ride is MODEAR who contests the Fillies and Mares Benchmark 78 Handicap (1100m) and a bold first-up showing can be expected. The Patrick Payne trained mare has a real liking for the track with two wins down the Flemington straight and the only runner in this field to have been victorious at the track. She has had three soft jumpouts in preparation for her return to racing and looks to be in good form. She is a backmarker that always requires luck getting through a field but she may have a slight class edge here and represents terrific each way value. RACE 5 NO.3 GUARDIAN SPIRIT GUARDIAN SPIRIT has enjoyed a fruitful start to this campaign and is striving for a hat-trick of wins when he runs in the 3YO Benchmark 70 Handicap (1400m). The son of Street Boss resumed with a comprehensive maiden victory over 1200 metres at Geelong on November 6 before showing real grit and determination to win over 1200m at Sandown on November 24. He is now looking for the longer distance of this race and only needs reasonable luck from barrier one and he should prove very hard to beat again. Market Market
