We kick off the big day with an 1800m Midway where leading Victorian hoop Blake Shinn jumps onto the consistent yet unlucky PHILLIPSBURG who ran into issues again last start when not far away in this grade. He’s been competitive against better opposition, perhaps today will be his day. WHISKEY WISDOM had little luck last start also, should be well up to this & the additional trip suits. Numbers: 4 – 11 – 5 – 10 Suggested Bet: PHILLIPSBURG EACH-WAY (small bet) RACE 2 Always a great time of year seeing the new season 2yo’s step out on this day in the Gimcrack for the fillies & the Breeders Plate for the males. Can’t go past LADY OF CAMELOT on what we saw at the trials, she sat deep yep still put a gap on them in the straight & J.Mac to ride is a big positive. Stablemate LADY TASSORT looks an early running type. Always love a Team Snowden trial winner & INVINCIBLE MADISON was just that! Numbers: 6 – 7 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 3 Really liked what I saw of both SCAMPI & VOLATILE in their respective trials on the Kensington track. The former led & just cruised away from his opposition down the straight with plenty in the tank whilst VOLATILE came from off speed & was put under minimal pressure however showed a real turn of foot which is always a good sign. Can’t tip both, I’ll lean to SCAMPI. STRAIGHT CHARGE the other main hope. Numbers: 11 – 14 – 12 – 6 Suggested Bet: Backing top 2 selections to win RACE 4 Absolutely no luck for ALTIVO first up running into traffic & basically having little more than a barrier trial. He’s always had a fair bit of hype surrounding him & if he’s to live up to the wraps needs to dispose of this lot which he should even accounting for the wide alley. UNSPOKEN can take good benefit from the first up win, second up record not as strong however from the inside gate should get every chance. Good to see RENAISSANCE WOMAN back, she ran some tidy races last prep in Group company which this race is certainly not. Numbers: 13 – 8 – 7 – 4 Suggested Bet: ALTIVO TO WIN RACE 5 Going with TOM KITTEN however I will be having a saver on CAFÉ MILLENIUM. TOM KITTEN just has that touch of class & I can see him a lot closer in the run then the other one. The step up in trip will suit both however perhaps more so CAFÉ MILLENIUM who doesn’t show any early speed however definitely knows how to find the line, will he give away too much start though? RAF ATTACK a chance. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 11 – 3 Suggested Bet: Backing top 2 selections to win RACE 6 TIZ INVINCIBLE has had the wood on KIMOCHI both meetings this prep however if the latter is going to turn the tables then today is the day. The wide barrier for TIZ INVINCIBLE isn’t kind & she’s going to have a tougher run than her past couple, KIMOCHI’s last couple have been good, the latest she was wide throughout yet stayed on well running second. With the better gate & rise in distance I’m with Kimochi to gain some revenge. TUTTA LA VITA could be an improver at odds. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 10 – 6 Suggested Bet: KIMOCHI TO WIN RACE 7 One of the main Everest chances THINK ABOUT IT resumes here & I’m confident his return will be a successful one. He’s suffered defeat only once at his 10 starts to date & all things being equal should be unbeaten as he was unlucky on that occasion. A dual Group 1 winner his lead up trials have been excellent. LOST AND RUNNING looks overs, he’s a horse who doesn’t seem to get a lot of luck in his races, include in exotics. BELLA NIPOTINA in the mix, watch on the very highly priced & resuming ALCOHOL FREE. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 9 – 8 Suggested Bet: THINK ABOUT IT TO WIN RACE 8 The Group 1 Epsom is always one of the most competitive feature races run in the country & this year will be no different with far better than each-way odds all runners in early markets. Thought the Tasmanian The Inevitable’s first up run at Rosehill was a cracker making up plenty of ground, he gets to his pet trip & the good tempo will help him late. HOPE IN YOUR HEART looks the toughest to beat, cracking return in the Tramway she was very competitive in Group 1 company last prep. CONVERGE is a very consistent galloper who will take a ton of benefit from the first up run. Numbers: 3 – 8 – 5 – 10 Suggested Bet: THE INEVITABLE EACH-WAY (small bet) RACE 9 Can’t go against JUST FINE in the Metrop, he’s been super impressive both runs in the country & gets in here extremely light with only 50kg on his back. He only has to run up to either one of those victories & he’ll be winning again. MANZOICE now gets out to the right trip for him, first up he was good, second up he was flat, expect much better today. CLEVELAND is another I’d expect to improve sharply. Numbers: 14 – 7 – 3 – 10 Suggested Bet: JUST FINE TO WIN RACE 10 Pace should be solid here, I’m hoping it’s even better than that giving a chance to those racing off speed which will be exactly where the second up AIRMAN parks. Terrific running on behind Red Card first up he’s got no weight & will be strong late. KIBOU pulled out just enough to score first up, if the pressure is low up front he’ll take running down again, even if it’s not he’s right in it. RECOMMENDATION is flying down south, overall record is very good, same can’t be said about the wide draw here. Numbers: 18 – 8 – 2 – 13 Suggested Bet: AIRMAN EACH-WAY Market Market
