Deane Lester’s Caulfield Saturday Tips Posted on April 29, 2016 | Posted by Deane Lester Deane Lester’s Preview RACE 1 NO.2 ANTELUCAN ANTELUCAN should be fitter for one run back from a spell and appeals as the best bet of the day when she runs in the Ern Jensen Funerals Plate (1600m). The John O’Shea trained filly resumed with a sound 6th behind SCARLET BILLOWS in the VOBIS Gold Distaff (1400m) at Caulfield on April 16. That was a high pressure race against older mares so she will appreciate dropping back to her own age group in an inferior class race. Craig Williams retains the ride and ANTELUCAN looks the ideal filly for this race at this stage of her campaign. RACE 2 NO.7 ZAHSPEED ZAHSPEED is a very reliable middle distance horse racing through the grades that looks the one to beat again when he contests the Next Payments Handicap (2000m). The four year old has won his past three starts, firstly over 1600 metres at Ballarat on March 9 before a dominant win over 2040 metres at Moonee Valley on March 24. He completed the hat trick with an equally dominant display over 1800 metres at Sandown on April 9. The key to the horse’s development this preparation has been the engagement of Glen Boss as his rider, who just rates him perfectly. They combine again and ZAHSPEED looks poised to make it four wins on end. RACE 4 NO.3 KAYJAY’S JOY Handy mare KAYJAY’S JOY resumes from a spell when she runs in the No Fuss Events Hire Handicap (1100m) and looks a great winning chance at each way odds. The David Hayes and Tom Dabernig trained mare won three races last preparation and boasts a terrific fresh record of two wins and a placing from four previous first-up attempts. Her recent trials at Flemington have been very impressive and this looks an ideal kick-off race for her campaign. It’s a competitive race but KAYJAY’S JOY is well placed to run well and represents the value runner of the day. Bet Now
