Deane’s Caulfield Saturday Selections Posted on July 1, 2016July 6, 2016 | Posted by Deane Lester Deane Lester’s Preview RACE 1 NO.2 TENAPPY LADIES The Michael Kent trained colt TENAPPY LADIES made a strong debut at Moonee Valley recently and looks the one to beat when he contests the Catanach’s Jewellers Handicap (1200m). The son of Choisir showed good speed and battled on well when finishing second behind ARTIE DEE TWO over 1200 metres on June 18. He finished a good margin ahead of last week’s impressive Flemington winner TRENCHANT which suggests the form out of this race is very solid for this time of year. He will be better for that experience and premiership leader Dwayne Dunn takes the ride; sure to run well again. RACE 2 NO.2 KAPOUR The best value runner of the day looks to be KAPOUR who rates a good each way chance when he contests the Kevin Dunne Plate (2000m). The Ciaron Maher trained gelding did enough at his first run back from a spell when finishing 8th behind ONPICALO over 1600 metres at Moonee Valley on June 18. That was a day favouring the leaders so KAPOUR was disadvantaged but showed encouraging signs with a strong midrace move before fading over the final stages. He will be fitter for that outing and is far better suited over this distance on his home track. In a competitive race, KAPOUR should run well at nice odds. RACE 7 NO.8 ANATOLA One of the most exciting prospects at the Caulfield meeting is ANATOLA who resumes from a spell when she contests the Sheen Group Plate (1100m). The daughter of More Than Ready is having her first start for the Mick Price stable having formerly been a member of the Peter Moody team. She recorded comprehensive wins at Stony Creek and Cranbourne at her first two outings before a brave 3rd over 1200 metres at Moonee Valley on February 5. Her recent trials at Caulfield have been encouraging and she looks primed for a big first-up run. On a competitive program, ANATOLA appeals as the best bet of the day. Bet Now
