Shortte’s Handful for Cannington Saturday Posted on July 8, 2016July 11, 2016 | Posted by David Shortte David Shortte’s Preview Race 3 No. 1 GOLD RESERVE Regally bred youngster who has made a promising start to his career starting 6 times for 4 wins. Two of those wins have been here over the 520 metres in the slick times of 30.00 and 29.95 and if he was able to step and record anything like that again would be winning this with a leg in the air. Should zoom his way through the grades. Looks a banker in the early Quaddie. Race 9 No. 1 ROMEO’S COMET Has proven close to unbeatable from this draw throughout his career with his 13 starts from the cherry producing 11 wins and a placing. Recent form has been tremendous with three straight wins over middle distance trips and despite getting on in years his zest for racing remains. The clear danger is drawn in box 7 Senator Monelli and I don’t like tipping or betting against him but there is a chance Romeo could be at decent value and that is enough to sway me. The 1&7 looks a nice quinella. Race 10 No. 6 DUBLINER Quality chaser who has won 4 of her last 5 starts over the 647 metres at Mandurah and here over the 715 metres. Had to work overtime here last week but was able to arrive in the nick of time to knock off Serena Fly High in the last few strides of the race. A winner of 17 of her 29 starts and just keeps finding ways to win. Always hard to beat.
