Big Bash – Hobart Hurricanes versus Melbourne Renegades Preview Posted on December 21, 2017 | Posted by David Shortte Tonight’s Big Bash clash between the Hobart Hurricanes and Melbourne Renegades at Bellerive Oval should be an interesting contest with both sides looking significantly different to what we saw last season. The Renegades have been particularly active in the off season recruiting Tim Ludeman, Mohammad Nabi, Kane Richardson, Xavier Crone, Jack Wildermuth and Brad Hodge. For Hobart they have added Tymal Mills, Jofra Archer, Alex Doolan, Matthew Wade, Nathan Reardon and Aaron Summers The Melbourne Renegades have had the wood on the Hurricanes beating them at 4 of their last 5 meetings however the last time they played the Hurricanes chased down the Renegades score of 222 courtesy of a fine century from Ben McDermott. The Melbourne Renegades will be well led by their skipper Aaron Finch who is one of the most explosive T20 players on the planet and should he get off the chain early he is capable of scoring heavily and quickly. He will have ample support from the likes of Harris, White, Hodge, Cooper and Bravo. Hobart will sorely miss Tim Paine who is on Test duties and they will rely heavily on their skipper George Bailey. Ben McDermott is very capable and the likes of Doolan, Short, Wade and Christian will need to contribute if they are to overcome the Renegades. The Renegades bowling outfit of Bravo, Richardson, Nabi, Mennie, Wildermuth and Hogg offer some great variety and look one of the better bowling combinations in the league. Watch out for the TABtouch special right throughout the course of the Big Bash whereby if you place a Match Result bet and your team wins, and 13 or more sixes are scored in the match, you will receive a 50% bonus on your winnings up to $50 (on-line account bets only). This game once again appeals as a fixture where you will be receiving a bonus if you can pick the right winning team. Given the size of the venue and potential scoring power of both teams I would be very surprised if there wasn’t more than 13 sixes scored in this match. TABtouch match result betting sees the Melbourne Renegades as popular favourites at $1.62 while the Hobart Hurricanes are at $2.35. I think the Renegades have recruited particularly well and I like the look of both their batting and bowling lineup. Hobart don’t contain the same depth in their team and are likely to rely heavily on a select few. Verdict : I am pretty confident that the Melbourne Renegades will prove too strong at $1.62.
