Big Bash – Adelaide Strikers versus Sydney Thunder Preview Posted on December 22, 2017 | Posted by David Shortte Tonight the Adelaide Strikers kick off their Big Bash campaign against the Sydney Thunder at the Adelaide Oval. The Adelaide Strikers have had plenty of turnover with their squad in the off season. Star Batsman Travis Head is now Skipper and he will lead a young team which boasts some legitimate strike power. Jake Weatherald, Alex Carey and Jake Lehmann are all capable of making a splash and Colin Ingram at the top of the order adds some real spice. The Strikers have added Billy Stanlake and Afghan spinner Rashid Khan as well as veteran paceman Peter Siddle to join proven stalwart Ben Laughlin in the attack. The Sydney Thunder won their first match of the season winning off the last ball against their cross town rivals the Sydney Sixers. The victory was thanks largely to a majestic knock of 77 off 46 balls from veteran Shane Watson and a fine spell of bowling from spinner Fawad Ahmed who took the two key wickets of Hughes and Maddinson and went for just 11 runs from his 4 overs. Watch out for the TABtouch special right throughout the course of the Big Bash whereby if you place a Match Result bet and your team wins, and 13 or more sixes are scored in the match, you will receive a 50% bonus on your winnings up to $50 (on-line account bets only). The square boundaries at the Adelaide Oval often get cleared regularly and if the likes of Head and Watson get going for their respective sides that tally of 13 sixes may well be surpassed. TABtouch match result betting sees the Adelaide Strikers as the $1.77 favourites while the Sydney Thunder are at $2.10. I think the Adelaide Strikers have a very potent batting lineup and a player like Travis Head in this league has great potential to take games over off his own bat. I like the Strikers with home ground advantage – I’m happy to be on them at $1.77. Verdict : I am sticking with the Adelaide Strikers at $1.77.
