Big Bash – Adelaide Strikers v Hobart Hurricanes Preview Posted on January 17, 2018January 18, 2018 | Posted by David Shortte Tonight the Adelaide Strikers play host to one of the form sides of the competition, the Hobart Hurricanes at the Adelaide Oval. Both teams have played 7 matches with impressive 5 win 2 loss records to sit in second and third spot on the table behind the Perth Scorchers. Hobart have ridden the coat tails of the in-form Darcy Short who has set up their victories with some stunning performances at the head of the order. Short has piled on a whopping 465 runs for the tournament to date at an average of 77.75. He is 180 runs clear of the next best runscorer in the tournament Cameron White who has managed 285. Hobart have also found a match winner in their fast bowling import Jofra Archer who sits 5th on the Most Wickets table with 11 wickets for the tournament thus far. For the Strikers Alex Carey has been their rock from a batting perspective. His 268 runs sees him sitting in third spot on the Most Runs Table for BBL07. The Bowling has been a strength for the Strikers and they have received great service from Rashid Khan with 12 wickets and Ben Laughlin with 11 wickets. That duo will again be looking to have an impact on this clash. Watch out for the TABtouch special right throughout the course of the Big Bash whereby if you place a Match Result bet and your team wins, and 13 or more sixes are scored in the match, you will receive a 50% bonus on your winnings up to $50 (on-line account bets only). TABtouch match result betting sees the Adelaide Strikers as the $1.76 favourites while the Hobart Hurricanes are at $2.10. This is a very difficult match to assess. Darcy Short is bound to miss out at some point but right now he is the hottest property in the BBL and you would have to be a very brave punter to press all in against him. I am going to lean slightly towards Adelaide with home ground advantage and a touch more depth than the Hurricanes but the whole Short factor does leave me very nervous. Verdict : I am sticking with the Adelaide Strikers at $1.76. Most Runs Adelaide Strikers : Alex Carey $3.70 Most Runs Hobart Hurricanes : Darcy Short $2.75 Most Wickets Adelaide Strikers : Rashid Khan $3 Most Wickets Hobart Hurricanes : Jofra Archer $3.50
