Greg’s Belmont Best Bets Posted on May 27, 2016May 30, 2016 | Posted by Greg Hooper Greg Hooper’s Preview RACE 1 OREGON BRONZE improved sharply second-up when running a game second behind the smart Sandalwood at Pinjarra. The 1400m won’t be a problem and she should get a nice trip from a good draw. UNMARKED BILLS was a tough winner second-up. He will either lead or breeze. STORED ENERGY is flying. The gate is a concern however if she produces her best she probably just wins again. KILKENNY JOE will get a nice run and sneak into the first-four. Numbers – 8 – 7 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – Oregon Bronze each-way RACE 2 DARK MUSKET had no luck in running last week when he was wide for the duration. He drops 6.5kg on that run and can improve sharply. RESPONDENT has been banging the door down all preparation. TRADESMAN will settle over the speed and has strong claims. TONTO is always a chance at this level. Numbers – 4 – 1 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – Dark Musket win RACE 3 Chris Gangemi brings a strong hand into this 1000m sprint with both WINDSWEPT and BOURNE SUPREMACY. At the prices I’m going for WINDSWEPT who be able to either lead or breeze and control the speed. BOURNE SUPREMACY back in class and distance will be hard to hold out. MAD BRAD is capable of producing a big fresh run. SHOWY CHLOE has been freshened up and is on the minimum with Pike on. Numbers – 1 -2 – 4 – 9 Suggested Bet – Windswept save Bourne Supremacy RACE 4 COOL PASSION can bounce back into the winner’s circle in this 1200m sprint. She should derive plenty of benefit from her last run where she was coming off a 4 week break. She finds the fence easier and will take plenty of running down. SECRET MINX has been flying since rejoining the Mark Nelson stables. She’ll likely breeze and give a terrific sight. GREY ENIGMA will box seat and finish strongly. BOMBER BAY is more than capable of pulling out a big run fresh. Numbers – 3 – 6 – 1 – 8 Suggested Bet – Cool Passion win RACE 5 ROMELO was terrific in his local debut when smashing the line over a mile to just miss. He jumps to 2100m quickly however he gives the impression he’ll eat the ground and should beat this field. OUR MATE AL has been attacking the line over shorter trips. He has claims. CARALABEK has a tough draw to overcome but he’s a stayer on the rise. GENEROUS CHOICE next best. Numbers – 5 – 8 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet – Romelo win RACE 6 SCALES OF JUSTICE should improve off his first-up run behind GREAT SHOT. He will tuck in just behind the speed and will be hard to hold out. GREAT SHOT will lead and give a big sight. THE COBBLA can improve on its first-up run and go close. KEY TO FAME will breeze and give a sight. Numbers – 3 – 2 – 1 -5 Suggested Bet – Scales Of Justice and Great Shot RACE 7 This is a really good edition of the Belmont Sprint. WINK AND A NOD returns from a freshen-up. She flies at this at this track and any give in the surface is a plus as well. LUCKYGRAY attacked the line in the Roma Cup. He should be cherry ripe for this. BATTLE HERO was heavily supported in the Roma Cup and got it done courtesy of a brilliant ride by Pike. He should get a similar run again. HAZZABEEL has a poor draw to overcome but his effort in the Roma Cup was an eye-catcher. Numbers – 11 – 1 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – Wink And A Nod save Luckygray RACE 8 Very competitive finish to the program. I’m happy to team up with the class runner PROCEEDWITHCAUTION despite the 61kg impost. He was very good in the Roma Cup and should appreciate the drop in class and rise in distance. DEZZIE’S DREAM class got her home first-up over 1000m. She steps up to 1400m and drops 4kg. She will be hard to hold out. MIKI TWO TOES continues to race well and Harvey always gets the best out of him. MILITARY RULER either leads or box seats Numbers – 1 – 11 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – Proceedwithcaution and Dezzie’s Dream QUADDIE RACE 5 – 1 – 5 – 8 RACE 6 – 1- 2 – 3 RACE 7 – 1 – 3 – 7 – 11 RACE 8 – 1 – 3 – 4 – 7 – 11 [button class=”bet-now” style=”btn-default btn-lg” type=”link” target=”false” title=”Bet Now” link=”https://www.tabtouch.com.au/racing/2016-05-28/pr” linkrel=””]
