Greg’s Belmont Best Bets Posted on July 27, 2016July 28, 2016 | Posted by Greg Hooper Greg Hooper’s Preview RACE 1 This opening race looks close enough to a raffle with eight first starters engaged. Trying to line-up all the trial form is almost impossible. OUTTATHAWAY made some late ground in his trial. He might need further but should be finishing strongly. RED NOIRE showed a nice turn of foot in her last trial win. MT SEPOY showed plenty of raw speed in his trial win. SCALABRINO hails from a strong stable and won his trial well. Numbers – 4 – 9 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – Outtathaway win RACE 2 OUTSTRETCH disappointed last week when leading and fading over 1200m. The drop back to 1000m should suit and he can improve sharply on that effort. CROWN OF LIGHTS looked very sharp in a recent trial win. LORD KRONOS trialled well. RHYMES WITH ORANGE showed enough in his recent trial to suggest he’ll run a race fresh. Numbers – 1 – 3 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – Outstretch save Crown Of Lights RACE 3 COUNTERCAT is a handy type who resumes from a spell. He should get a lovely run from a good gate and be hard to hold out. CORUSCATION broke a drought last week. He should get an identical run tagging the speed. PEGATEGO and BANGALORE next best. Numbers – 6 – 5 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – Countercat save Coruscation RACE 4 Race of the dat. BEAUCOUNT drops sharply in distance from 2100m to 1200m however he has some class and should get a lovely run from gate 2. He will be hard to hold out. COUNT TOMOZ OFF has impressed in both starts. CHOCOLATE HOLIC won his only start well and has trialled well for his return. TUCKY’S LAD has claims. Numbers – 2 – 5- 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – Beaucount and Count Tomoz Off RACE 5 HELLO PARIS ran well in the Belmont Oaks. The drop back to a mile should suit and if she can get over from her wide draw she is the one to beat. SIGIL is another who drops in distance and looks suited. He gets a lovely run from gate 2. MATER REMEDY looks the leader. EEMPYREUS is close to a win. Numbers – 5 – 4- 1 – 9 Suggested Bet – Hello Paris and Sigil RACE 6 GUNFIRE was well supported in betting when leading all the way at Northam. If he repeats that effort he measures up in this moderate race. STORMY PLANET broke his maiden well. He’ll get off the speed and finish well. CARD KNIGHT is the best horse in the race however first-up and from a wide gate expect him to be ridden off speed making his task a tough one. WELL SPOKEN MAN will be on the pace and give a sight. Numbers – 3 – 10 – 2 – 5 Suggested Bet – Gunfire win RACE 7 This is as wide as it gets. MAMBOKADZI has returned in good order this campaign. He’ll settle midfield with some cover and get his chance. KENSINGTON ABBEY will appreciate the drop back to her pet distance. BJORN TO LOVE is on the quick back up after a strong effort over 1200m last week. O’REILLY’S CRUMPET is capable of producing a big fresh run. Numbers – 1 – 2 – 3 – 10 Suggested Bet – Mambokadzi and Kensington Abbey QUADDIE RACE 4 – 3, 4, 5, 6, 10 RACE 5 – 1, 4, 5 RACE 6 – 2, 3, 5, 10, 11, 14 RACE 7 – 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 10 [button class=”bet-now” style=”btn-default btn-lg” type=”link” target=”false” title=”Bet Now” link=”https://www.tabtouch.com.au/racing/2016-07-27/pr” linkrel=””]
