Greg’s Belmont Best Bets Posted on June 17, 2016June 20, 2016 | Posted by Greg Hooper Greg Hooper’s Preview RACE 1 HIGH CONVICTION lived up her boom tag with a big win at her second career start. Harvey cuddled her throughout and she appeared to have a few untapped gears. She should be too good and get punters off to a flyer. DAINTY TESS looks the clear second pick. She can lead or box seat and the 1000m fresh suits. NEXT GENERATION is the other winning chance. He’ll appreciate the drop back to 1000m. CARNELIAN has showed a bit at the trials. Numbers – 5 – 2 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet – High Conviction win RACE 2 DENDEE resumes off a freshen-up. The 1000m is short of her pet distance however at the odds happy to gamble she can run a race at each-way prices. She’ll be allowed time to settle in running and work home strongly. The former NSW trained three-year-old STRAVIGO has come up a very short priced favourite for his local debut. If he brings his ‘a-game’ he probably just wins. BOMBS AWAY appeared to be enjoy being ridden with a sit last start when an impressive winner in midweek grade. MARCHAND gives a sight on the speed. Numbers – 2 -6 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet – Dendee 1 win / 5 places RACE 3 TRADESMAN is a highly promising middle distance type and he should be able to dominate this race from up on the speed and make it a winning hat-trick. THE FLIRT was an impressive winner last week lumping the 59kg. He is up in class however he drops 4.5kg. DRUPA gives a good sight on the pace. SHINTA MANI is always a chance at this level. Numbers – 1 – 6 – 7 -4 Suggested Bet – Tradesman win RACE 4 VEGA MAGIC was backed as if unbeatable a fortnight back and he really turned it on for his supporters producing a brilliant all the way win. He jumps straight to the front again and it should be a similar result. KING RIVER should be able to work into second. IT’S IT is a nice type who can run a race fresh. GIGANTE has struck form. Numbers – 1 – 11 – 7 – 2 Suggested Bet – Vega Magic win RACE 5 BEAUCOUNT was a most impressive debut winner over 1650m. He takes the very unusual step of dropping back to 1200m however Pike retains the mount and he has drawn to settle close to the speed. If he can get a clear run and into his rhythm he’ll take some holding out. UPTOWN FUNK was terrific winning in midweek grade after tracking wide throughout. She can measure up in this class. BRISANTO continues to race well. DUCHA ZACHISTKI can improve with the drop back to 1200m. Numbers – 3 – 2 – 11 – 1 Suggested Bet – Beaucount and Uptown Funk RACE 6 Very competitive race with most of the major chances clashing a fortnight back over 1000m. WINDSWEPT should be cherry ripe for the step up 1200m. He has run good races over the 1000m at both starts and is drawn to get the run of the race from gate 3. MAD BRAD is very capable and can improve second-up and the with the rise in distance. MILITARY REIGN is flying and will give a great sight on the speed. ZUCCHEROS is very hard to catch however when his mind is on the job as per last start not many in the state can hold him out. Numbers – 7- 11 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – Windswept each-way RACE 7 Going really wide in this race and selecting NIGHT PROWLER. He’s a very capable type when on song and he should big time on his fresh run. Second up last campaign he ran a bold second to Illuminated. THE COBBLA is weighted and drawn to win. UNIVERSAL LAW is very talented and will be launching from the rear again. MUSKETS AT DAWN will give a sight on speed as he always does. Numbers – 11 – 13 – 3 -2 Suggested Bet – Night Prowler each-way RACE 8 BONNY ZARA looks very well placed in this final race of the program. She was a strong first-up winner and then got too far back in a leaders dominated race. From gate 2 she sits much handier to the speed and should go very close. HEDLANDER BOY is tough and will get a lovely run on the speed. IN THIS LIFE returns from a 5 week break. Her last start produced an impressive win in similar grade. READY TO FIRE can run a race fresh. Numbers – 5 – 6 – 10 – 4 Suggested Bet – Bonny Zara each-way QUADDIE RACE 5 – 1, 4, 5, 8, 13 RACE 6 – 3, 5, 6, 7, 11 RACE 7 – 3, 11, 13 RACE 8 – 2, 4, 5, 6, 10, 11 [button class=”bet-now” style=”btn-default btn-lg” type=”link” target=”false” title=”Bet Now” link=”https://www.tabtouch.com.au/racing/2016-06-18/pr” linkrel=””]
