Ascot 6 January – Thoroughbreds Preview

Greg Hoopers’ Preview

RACE 3 NO. 6 PEGGY SUE

PEGGY SUE was terrific on debut when sitting wide on a strong speed and still finishing powerfully. The rise to 1400m looks ideal and this is a very moderate bunch of maidens. If she repeats her first-up effort she has these covered.

RACE 6 NO. 12 COOL PASSION

Lightly raced four-year-old COOL PASSION made a big impression when winning at her second start at Bunbury. She sat on a hot speed and was able to power clear for a big win in very slick time. She should again be able to settle right on the speed from her good draw and has terrific claims at making it back to back wins.

RACE 7 NO. 1 HANDYMAN

Consistent gelding HANDYMAN looks a strong each-way chance in this wide open finish to the program. He drew a wide gate at Pinjarra, settled off the speed and worked home well. From gate 2 he can settle much handier to the speed and this looks an easier assignment than what he tackled last start.
