A Mighty Weekend At Moonee Valley! Posted on October 23, 2025October 23, 2025 | Posted by TABtouch The Spring Racing action continues at the Valley over the weekend, with the Group 2 Moonee Valley Cup ($750,000) headlining a blockbuster eight race card on Friday night. Whilst the focus remains on the Cox Plate on Saturday, Friday night’s Group 2 2500m clash will host a field full of Melbourne Cup hopefuls, with the winner gaining a start in the race that stops the nation on Tuesday. It will be the last opportunity to find a winner at the Valley this weekend prior to a multi-year track closure and renovation. Our TABtouch racing experts have worked through the full card at Moonee Valley on Friday and hope to send off the Valley on a winning note! RACE 1: (8) Yachiyo was disappointing for punters last start at Flemington, as a $3 chance in a stronger race but stepping back in grade here and with Craig Williams on board will be keen to atone. (5) A Diva has been a model of consistency of late with 2 wins and 2 second placings in its only 4 starts. (6) Coco Jen has a similar record to (5) A Diva and should be considered for exotics. The opener looks to be a race with many chances and one for exotic plays. Tips: (5) A Diva (Each Way) and 5 – 4 – 8 – 9 (Exotics) RACE 2: This again looks a tricky race without a clear market leader. There are five horses under $10 in current markets which suggests the punters are finding it hard to pick a standout. (4) Invincible Woman for the Kennewell stable brings intrigue to this race after winning very well at Caulfield on debut and then struggling in the feature Magic Millions 2YO Classic. She firmed in markets as have (6) Sisstainable and the top weight chance (1) Sonofkirk who’s father sired Thousand Guineas champ Ole Dancer. Tough race with many chances. Steer wide with exotic plays and look for value. Tips: (6) Sisstainable (Each Way) and 6 – 1 – 4 – 5 (Exotics) RACE 3: (5) Amleto looks to have found the right race here third up. Hit the line well in a Benchmark 80 at Caulfield last start and steps back to a Benchmark 70 here at the Valley, and is a firm favourite with punters. WA punters will be familiar with the Bob Peters cerise and white colours of (4) So Brave who goes around here at great each way value. Won well at big odds first up before running fourth behind Zambardo who is a good horse. (10) Saxon Beauty and (11) Farewell To Eire are others to include in exotic plays. Tips: (5) Amelto (Win) & (4) So Brave (Each Way) RACE 4: This is going to be a fast-paced sprint over the 1200m in a competitive race. (4) Capper Thirtynine has been narrowly beaten in his last couple of efforts, including a solid last up effort at Flemington. Has drawn a good barrier and gets his chance here. (8) Big Sexy has also attracted market support with a dominant win first up win by 2.75 lengths at Hamilton. Needs to step up from a Benchmark 70 to a Benchmark 80 but looks a progressive type. (5) Princess Que has form coming through the same race as (4) Capper Thirtynine at Flemington and (14) Flyer steps back here after a solid effort in Group 3 company last start. Tips: (8) Big Sexy (Each Way) & 8 – 14 – 5 – 4 (Exotics) RACE 5: This is the final of the 955m challenge at the Valley and it looks to be the perfect setup here for (11) Fieldelo. 1 from 1 at the distance, 2 wins from 5 starts and has been backed into favouritism. Dominant 7 length win at Bendigo at her second start before just missing in a listed race prior to a spell. (1) Shirshov came second to a good horse in Beast Mode at the Valley last start who run a great time over the 955m. (3) Power Of The Brave and (10) One Hard Lady for exotics. Tip: (11) Fieldelo (Win) & (1) Shirshov (Each Way) RACE 6: (4) Raikoke looks well placed here and a class above the rest. Won very well in quick time at Sandown two starts ago before fading behind the boom horse King Zephyr last start. 55kg and barrier three; two big ticks here. (1) Regal Azmon for the Stokes stable looks the next best but will need to carry 60kg which is a tough ask. (2) Apulia is a good watch after 12 months away from the scene and has been solid in markets. Tip: (4) Raikoke (Win) RACE 7: The Group 2 Moonee Valley Cup is the feature race on the card and has attracted a quality field of Melbourne Cup hopefuls. (2) Gilded Water looks to find his way into the Melbourne Cup here and is the current favourite. Over raced last start and was gassed late when run down by Valliant King and Torranzino. (11) Berkshire Breeze has been a frustrating horse for punters but should be considered here. Always looms as he did last start but faded off a high tempo race late. Should be peaking now and represents good value at around the $10 price. (7) Changingoftheguard and (5) Onesmoothoperator next best. Big field which often creates many hard luck stories. Keen to look for value outside of the favourite and box up trifectas. Tip: (5) Onesmoothoperator (Each Way) & 12 – 5 – 11 – 7 (Exotics) RACE 8: A competitive race to finish the card with three key chances fighting it out for favouritism. (11) Jenni The Fox drops in class having contested two Group 2 races in her last two starts where she wasn’t beaten by far in either. The Blake Shinn appointment also adds confidence for punters. It’s hard to ignore the barnstorming win by (5) He’ll Rip last start at Flemington. If he runs up to his last performance he can win. (12) Inncourt and (3) Cataggio are must have’s for exotics. Tip: (11) Jenni The Fox (Win) & 11 – 5 – 12 – 3 (Exotics) Moonee Valley Multi: Race 5: (1) Fieldelo WINRace 6: (1) Raikoke WINRace 8: (11) Jenni The Fox PLACE= $6.30* *Multi odds at time of posting with TABtouch.
