Matt Young’s Tuesday Gloucester Park Preview

Race 1

Interesting battle for the lead, VICIOUSLY UNKIND (5) is beginning better with every run and is a strong chance to cross in this, fought on well last time out and looks hard to beat if she can cross down. ATLANTAS (3) has also been beginning better and is racing soundly, winning chance if she can lead. ALTAIR STAR (1) would win if she can lead but just seems to be slowly away most times, even when asked, can still win settling close enough. SHES MY LITTLE GEM (10) will get a nice run and can improve. TAYLORS BOY FRED (11) will be running on from a decent draw.

Suggested Bet: VICIOUSLY UNKIND (5) to win.

Race 2

Open race. AMERICAN TYPHOON (1) fell in to win at Collie on Sunday, and prior form hasn’t been up to her best standard but does look the leader, wouldn’t be diving into a favourite quote on her. ELVIRA JANE (10) is a bit of guess work but is first up and ideally drawn and has always shown some promise, expecting a strong run on return. ELLEOFAREACTOR (5) has continued to improve, wasn’t beaten far at Collie on Sunday when doing the work and that isn’t her go. HURRICANEHOPE (6) put the writing on the wall last start but faces a tricky draw. CHIEF COPY (8) is capable but can mix his form a bit. BEALAWYER (12) will be running on strongly at a price. HEAVENLY BLISS (2) racing soundly and CARA DIANA (11) is the better chance from the Costello yard over PHILTHEJUG (9) who has drawn the river.

Suggested Bet: ELVIRA JANE (10) each way.

Race 3

CLASSNSMART (1) looks the leader and was a good win from the breeze last time out, no reason he can’t do it again. ITSOKTOBEGREY (2) has a nice draw but is a different horse on the rail to when he is one off the pegs. CHARLI BROWN (3) capable but can throw out some tricks. FOLLOW MY STRIDE (10) wasn’t a bad effort last run and that was coming in fresh and racing one off, she loves the rail and looks to follow the leader. HUGHEY (5) is never far away without winning but it’s an awkward draw. STRIKE MASTER (11) will be running on but has been rather luckless. VINTAGE BLU (7), LETS ROCK TONIGHT (8) and CLOUD NINE (9) are capable types but draw difficult in this race.

Suggested Bet: FOLLOW MY STRIDE (10) to place.

Race 4

Another typical Tuesday open race. WICKED LOVER (1) returns and can run well on return, but she can be a very tricky horse to catch. MISTER KOPA (4) has brilliant early speed and won on Sunday at Collie, the middle distance isn’t his friend these days so if he does cross, he will likely look to take cover. BAND OF ROCK (5) will be dangerous in this, had no luck in his recent victory and still found a way with his high speed. JOEY JAMES (11) will be running on but has a knack of running an eye-catching race but not being able to capitalise on it. TORREVEAN AMY (3) is around the mark and GET YA BETS ON (9) is capable but drawn wide. HALFMOONBAY (7) is a nice type on return but may pay to watch.

Suggested Bet: BAND OF ROCK (5) each way.

Race 5

SUGAR STREET (1) gets the draw and may look to try and lead in this grade, his overall form has been good, but the home straight might feel like Flemington to him late. RAKERO RAIDER (6) is knocking on the door, he deserves a win but always requires a touch of luck. DELULU (7) suited in this grade but is a get back type early and may look to be put into it but they have been driving her sit sprint. GULLY GUM (8) has turned a corner and is ready to win but needs a bit to go right from the draw. CORDERO (5) is racing well and can do his own work in these races. CEE DEE THREE (9) will be storming home and is a winning chance. ROCK ME OVER (10) drawn to get a soft run and is always about the place.

Suggested Bet: CEE DEE THREE (9) each way.

Race 6 (Best Bet)

CANELO (1) controlled and dominated on Saturday and looks a strong chance to lead throughout in this, he is a focussed horse which is important considering my next part. INFINITE MERIT (10) is not the most focussed animal on the planet, has plenty of ability but was caught stargazing last time out and ultimately cost him the front and probably the win, he’s only had 19 starts but has been a bit immature in the mind through his whole career, on ability he should win this but he’s still learning the caper. DON DIABLO (4) has ability and returns and drawn to get a decent run. GLOBAL HERITAGE (3) and WORLD OF ROCK (6) are place hopes, but the latter needs to find a rails position to show his best.

Suggested Bet: CANELO (1) to win.

Race 7

TROUBADOUR (8) looks dropped in and ready to dominate for Team Bond, he was a beaten favourite on a few occasions last time in which is always a concern but has got plenty of ability and hard to beat. The challenger is PRINCESS DIAMOND (7) who is on the rise and may have won the respect to run to the lead, if she does that, she will run a big race. RECOVER LOVER (1) will lead early and likely look for cover, good place chance. ZLATO (9) will be running on and is a chance with novelty claims to IM ROCKIN ROD (6) and LORD PUBLISHER (2).

Tips: 8 7 1 9

Suggested Bet: TROUBADOUR/PRINCESS DIAMOND to Quinella.

Race 8

I LIKE MY SWEETS (7) will be winning and should do it in a comfortable fashion. LETS RATTLNROLL (6) looks to have ability and can look to press forward in the early stages and play a part. DARE TO LIE (4) is racing well enough but she can be rough at certain stages, her last 3 have been solid. IM SPUD (3) is one that caught the eye last start at Bunbury, ran into bother but was going to earn and could be some value for the place. BONPOPPY (1) ideally drawn for a novelty play. LUCK FROM ABOVE (10) can improve following the rail, seems to be her go.

Tips: 7 6 3 4

Suggested Bet: IM SPUD (3) to place.

Race 9

MUFFIN LOSE (3) has good early speed and is knocking on the door, the last couple of runs have been superb and looks a strong chance in this. ALL AT ONCE (1) has chased home nice types and gone well but faces the pressure of being a favourite, early speed will be tested. ZILLIONAIRE (9) faces the wide draw but will be running on and can still get into the money. QUEEN OF NIGHTS (4), MANHATTAN MIKI (6) and STELLAR MAN (8) can be around the mark with an expected improvement from MANHATTAN MIKI (6) but is still learning the caper.

Suggested Bet: MUFFIN LOSE (3) to win.
